DIKEMBE: The ODM Party Is Full of Strategists, But What Are They ‘Strategizing’ About?

The ODM-UDA 10-point MoU Agenda is completely different from the 10-Point Election Platform Issues in the ODM-Azimio Election Pledge.

The 10-point MoU between ODM and UDA is a framework of resolving the immediate political impasse post-2022 election.

On the other hand, the 10-Point Election Platform Issues in the ODM-Azimio Election Pledge is a manifesto of what Raila Odinga was to achieve, had he become the President of Kenya.

It has themes like Babacare, Fukuza Njaa, Waste Not a Child, Maji kwa Kila Boma, Kazi kwa Wote, One County One Product, Inua Jamii, Administrative Continuity, etc.

The pursuit of the implementation of the 10-Point MoU seems to preoccupy ODM more than the pursuit of the implementation of the 10-Point Election Platform Issues.

Where is the ODM Party’s equivalent of a “Strategic Plan” for the 2022-2027 period? What’s the party-base to focus on?

ODM Party is full of ‘strategists’, but what are they ‘strategizing’ about ? What are the issues to strategize on? The issues the party is basing its quest for power on? The issues to be canvassed?

The party is now in government it needs to plug its agenda.

The future is in “coalitions in government” which means parties must be seen to have achieved their manifestos while in government and co-running government.

Once the ODM Party has laid down what it tends to achieve while in government and supporting government; owing to the radical shift that occured in 2024, it can then begin to share in the work and success of this regime.

Politics has evolved.
