The ODM Party is dead in western Kenya despite the daily noises from western Kenya ODM Leaders.
When a section of ODM Party leaders are forging the party in the grassroots with their Linda Ground/Linda Chama movement, the western kenya section is on a movement diametrically opposed.
When a section of ODM Party leaders call for renewed focus in the party’s electability and acquisition of power; the other section dismiss such efforts, claiming theirs is to protect the ‘citizen’.
Contestation for power is not a social welfare matter. Political parties are not labour unions. The so called Linda Mwananchi group will destroy ODM if allowed to fester in ODM bases.
The expectation that Luo ODM Leaders should be the ones more concerned about the health of the ODM Party in all regions of Kenya than party leaders from those regions is not attainable in the obtaining political environment.
Coast Leaders have held the party strong in coast. Northeastern leaders have held the party strong in Northeastern. Nyanza leaders have held the party strong in Nyanza, why is the party WEAK in Western?
Some of these party leaders from western, the likes of the recent ANC-defectee Godfrey Osotsi, still think being in ODM is doing Nyanza/Luos a favour; or that a dead ODM will affect Nyanza/Luos more — it may not be so.
The results in western is testament to what some of us have been saying for years — that the inability of Luhya party officials, the sellouts currently cozying up to formations whose core organizing principle is to destroy ODM — has hollowed out ODM in western and reduced it to a third rate party.
ODM western bases will increasingly shift to the ruling UDA, largely due to the self-immolation happening to ODM in western, with party officials openly decampaigning the party and marketing themselves per the political scripts fed to them by their GEMA paymasters.
Why is ODM not losing to the so called Luhya parties? Why is it losing to an outsider party? DAP-K has twice been defeated by UDA. Why so?
The sellout ODM Party western leaders are pushing for ‘mulembeism’ but cannot build the so called Luhya party to effectively replace ODM?
Mimi ndio Sifuna is not a political party. It will take you nowhere. You cannot contest on a Mimi Ndio Sifuna Party. Sifuna himself thinks he has outgrown ODM but that’s wishful thinking with a long list of casualties.
Anyway, if western Kenya leaders have decided to kill ODM in western, ni shauri yao.
