Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has praised Mama Ida Odinga for her unwavering support of her husband, Raila Odinga, during challenging times.
Speaking yesterday at the launch of Raila’s candidacy for the African Union Commission chairmanship, Gachagua acknowledged the vital role of family in leadership, stating, “Mama Ida Odinga, we salute you as a country for having been a very strong pillar to your husband. In very difficult times and in his lowest moments, you have always been there for him.”
Gachagua encouraged spouses to support one another, emphasizing the importance of solidarity in leadership. He also took the opportunity to wish Mama Ida a happy birthday, expressing hope that her next celebration will take place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, during the AUC elections.
In a personal touch, Gachagua mentioned his own wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, who has been a source of strength for him. “My wife Pastor Dorcas, who is a very prayerful woman, has been praying for me and the President daily. I noted from yesterday she has added you to her prayer,” he said, highlighting the power of support and prayer in their lives.
