Agriculture CS Peter Munya has revealed the Party of National Unity (PNU) is entering a working partnership with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) in next year’s general elections, as Raila Odinga makes a fifth stab at the presidency.

Speaking at a funds drive in Nairobi, the Agriculture CS disclosed their party will however be fielding candidates across the country except for the presidency.

”We are not folding but we are going to work together with ODM. Just like Jubilee, we are also in the government that will be formed in the next dispensation. We shall field candidates all over Mt Kenya like any other party but on the presidency, we shall support Raila. We are standing firm with the ODM party and have formalized a working union. As PNU, we will clinch the majority seats in the Mt Kenya region,” the CS said.

The Thursday evening fundraiser was also attended by other leaders from the Mt Kenya region, among them Laikipia Governor Nderitu Mureithi who said the Mt Kenya region was ready to fully rally behind the former prime minister.

”As Mt Kenya, we are ready to work with Raila. He has demonstrated the one shilling one, one man, one vote in the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) even though our enemies who now want our votes, opposed it,” the Laikipa governor said, remarks which were fully backed by Ngaragua MP Jeremiah Kioni.

“Mt Kenya residents would have benefited from increased revenue allocations. We are sure in our support for the former prime minister. We are going to reward Raila for standing with Uhuru to stabilize the economy,” the legislator said.

He added, “As a country struggling with the economy, we cannot trust some people with the running of our affairs. That’s why as Jubilee and Mt Kenya people, we are going to support Raila as the next president.”
