Beyond The Raila and Ruto Coalition And Moving into The New Kenya

President William Ruto has called on all leaders across the country to set aside personal political interests and help him in uniting the country.

The President urged the leaders to take after ODM leader Raila Odinga, who on Friday last week signed a working framework with the Kenya Kwanza administration aimed at the country to a better future.

The so called opposition politicians in Kenya have been screaming about Raila Odinga and the ODM joining hands to work with President William Ruto. The Kalonzos and Gachaugas of Kenya politics have been telling us that Raila betrayed Kenyans and he specifically sacrificed the Gen Z population who had very concrete protests against the Ruto government in 2024.

My first question to someone like Kalonzo Muysoka and Rigathi Gachagua is to tell Kenyans just one thing they have done for the Kenyan youth and Gen Z population in the last two years.

Gachagua was in government all that time. What exactly did he ever do for the Kenyan youth. It is zero plus zero and everybody knows what that adds up to.

For Kalonzo who is now contending to be Kenya’s next president is there anything he is doing for the youth of Kenya right now other than yelling in the media?

Here is the big news for them. The Gen Z population who are in millions in our country do not have voting cards and most of them do not even have Kenyan IDs without which they cannot get a voting card.

Has this Kalonzo and Gachagua group even been remotely fighting to get Kenyan youth IDs and voting cards? No because their job is to just make noise while doing nothing and funerals are their best political joints. I wonder how many Kenyan youth attend those funerals.

I have arrived at the home of the late Simon Ole Saitoti in Purko Ward, Kajiado Central constituency.

“We agreed on many things, but we said one thing – ensure that young people who were arbitrarily killed by police bullets in 2023 receive compensation.

The truth is Kalonzo Muysoka never participated in those 2023 rallies under the Saba Saba rebellion led by Raila Odinga and Martha Karua at the time.

Kalonzo was too scared to go out there and his new friend then DP Rigathi Gachagua was bombing those Kenyans everyday and killing so many of them. Kalonzo now the big funeral politician never even bothered to attend the funerals of killed demonstrators or even visit them as they were dying in hospitals all over the country.

Well now the new Ruto and Raila coalition government did one of the most important thing for the Kenyan youth.

Now Kenyans can get their IDs without paying the Sh. 300 and that is great because believe it or not that amount even though it looks like nothing to the likes of the rich opposition leaders is a big hindrance for Kenyan youth to get IDs because whatever little money they have they need it for food.

President Ruto declares that all Kenyans be issued with IDs for free

President William Ruto has now declared that all Kenyans be issued with national Identity (ID) cards at no cost.

The next big issue here is where will Kenyans go to apply for those IDs.

In rural areas of Kenya people have to go and apply for IDs in the big town centre in their communities and for most Kenyans it is just too far to get there so they never go.

Can we the Kenya government set up a plan where applications for IDs can be done by government officials in schools where they can set up tent offices to do that job. What is wrong with that?

And then how long does it take to get the ID after you apply for it. Kenyans would prefer that to be done in days not months as is the case now. Those are some of the real issues Kenyans have to deal with as their opposition politicians concentrate in attending funerals to make speeches.

But this was a good development for the country.

Seme MP Dr. James Nyikal during has been elected the new Chairman of the National Assembly’s Departmental Committee on Health.

In his acceptance speech, Dr Nyikal expressed gratitude to committee members for their confidence in his leadership, acknowledging the critical role the committee plays in shaping Kenya’s health sector, which he said needs urgent intervention.

“I want to thank you all for electing me unopposed—it signifies the trust you have in me. I do not take this responsibility lightly, as I recognise the health sector’s vital role in the well-being of our nation,” he said.

Dr Nyikal also stressed the keen public interest in the leadership of the committee, stating that many Kenyans had reached out to him in anticipation of the election outcome.

“I was overwhelmed by the numerous letters, phone calls, and emails from people across the country eagerly awaiting the results. It shows that Kenyans have high expectations of this committee, and with the current political arrangement, we have a great opportunity to deliver,” he noted.

The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists, and Dentists Union (KMPDU) has congratulated Seme Member of Parliament Dr. James Nyikal on his election as the new Chairman of the National Assembly’s Departmental Committee on Health.

KMPDU Secretary General Dr. Davji Atellah, in a statement to newsrooms on Thursday, hailed the election as a strategic move towards strengthening the country’s healthcare system.

Dr. Atellah expressed confidence in Dr. Nyikal’s ability to champion policies that will not only improve working conditions for healthcare professionals but also enhance Kenya’s healthcare infrastructure.

Then there is this new and terribly dangerous so called protests where gangsters just attack Kenyans, injure many of them and rob them in the name of protests against the Ruto government.

This amounts to criminal abuse of real protests by Kenyans as we saw in June and July 2024 and those trying to do this are not doing it for Kenyans but for their petty political interests of trying to claim that the Ruto presidency is facing opposition from Kenyans. This is one of the most shameful political nonsense every to happen in our country and it has to stop.

Goons in Ruto tours mobilized by politicians, police claim

Police say they cannot do much because it is overwhelming and all political.

Attacks in Mathare on Wednesday during President William Ruto’s visit.

For the last four days, some city residents have been attacked and robbed by goons and thugs acting with impunity. Police allege the goons are mobilized by politicians to accompany an ongoing presidential tour of Nairobi.

“These are hungry people mobilized to attend the events. They take advantage of the situation to rob unsuspecting Kenyans,” said a senior police officer aware of the situation.

He said they are investigating to know if there was any other motivation behind the attacks.

Police say their hands are tied. They can’t do much because it is overwhelming and all political. These groups move on motorcycles and on foot.

The latest drama was outside Sarit Centre in Westlands where many were attacked and robbed. This has forced mobilization of more security officers to cover the routes the President used.

It all started in Eastleigh where goons who purported to accompany and welcome Ruto tried to snatch side mirrors to his official car. The goons harassed and robbed unsuspecting motorists and pedestrians.

From Eastleigh it moved to Mathare, Babadogo, Kawangware, Kangemi and later to Westlands. On Thursday the drama moved to Lang’ata and Kibera.

Can the Raila Odinga – Ruto government address and solve these domestic conflicts and violence and steer the country to a real development agenda. That is the question.

We have to face one thing as Kenyans which is truly a great country. Beautiful beyond belief. Nations go through tribulations. It is how those nations overcome those dangers that matters. That is the evidence of history. Kenya is no different.

The main issue for President William Ruto and Raila is to find solutions to the problems Kenyans face right now.

Fix the mess in healthcare and get that SHA system working for Kenyans. That would be a big victory for them and more important than the rallies we see in the country.

The new coalition government has to address youth employment in the country and they have to do it right now. The reason we have so many people in rallies all week is because they have no jobs and nothing else to do. The Ruto government and his new friend Raila Odinga have to address that and come with practical solutions.

And all that should be just the start for a New Kenya.
