Just today People’s Party of Kenya (PPK) leader Ndindi Nyoro has welcomed about 50 new aspirants into the party as political formations intensify preparations for the 2027 General Election.
Nyoro announced the new entrants on Thursday, September 3, 2026, saying they had joined PPK from different parts of the country.
The latest group includes aspirants seeking governor, senator, parliamentary and MCA positions, giving the party a wider presence across several counties.
Isrom Babu Nyangau and Onyancha Rogers are seeking the Kisii Senate seat, while Sarah Mwangi is targeting the Kirinyaga Senate position. Mathias Mesau is seeking the Makueni Senate seat.
Novince Karalia Atieno is seeking the Nairobi Woman Representative position, while parliamentary aspirants include Frankline Moranga for Kasipul, David Onyango for Karachuonyo, Martin Kabaya for Igembe South and David Kisko Mashambani for Kilome.
Other parliamentary hopefuls include Margaret Waithira Kamau for Kandara, Karanja Karunda for Gatundu North, Grace Njoki for Ndaragwa and Richard Malela Odare for Homa Bay Town.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has received a warm welcome in Meru as the Linda Mwananchi movement holds its rally in the county.
Sifuna was gifted maize, cassava, Irish potatoes and green maize during his visit, with the gesture highlighting the agricultural produce associated with the region.
The senator thanked former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza for the reception as he joined residents ahead of the rally.
“Thank you, Kawira Mwangaza, for the warm reception. Meru hoyeee!” Sifuna said.
The Linda Mwananchi caravan is led by Sifuna and is holding its Meru rally on Sunday, August 30. The movement had announced Meru as its next destination after its August 16 tour of Homa Bay County.
Mwangaza had earlier welcomed the movement to Meru and called for a peaceful tour of the county.
Sifuna had also said the first Meru rally would be centred on Meru Town and several stops, with visits to other parts of the county planned for later dates.
Linda Mwananchi is a grassroots political mobilisation campaign led by Sifuna and other opposition leaders, with the movement seeking to expand its presence across the country ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Its leaders say they want to engage Kenyans directly, listen to their concerns and build the movement from the grassroots rather than rely on political meetings in Nairobi.
There are two big differences from Ndindi Nyoro’s PPK and Sifuna’s Linda team. The biggest one right now is that Ndindi came in with a registered party and launched and declared he is starting rallies for 2027 elections and within a week the party had covered most of Murang’a where Ndindi is an MP and right of the bat they were big rallies.
That has how now gone on to a point where PPK is now considered the fastest growing political movement and party in Kenya and it looks they are just starting that journey and nobody knows where that goes.
Sifuna’s Linda Mwanainchi party are right now hoping to be able to register a political party giving them no platform to recruit candidates for the 2027 general elections.
The other difference between Ndindi’s PPK and the Linda team is that in PPK they seem to hold the dignity and success of their party in overall public support and emerging candidates.
In the Linda Mwanainchi group the prestige of the party has been is confined to a few political superstars like Babu Owino, Osotsi, James Orengo and Edwin Sifuna and all of them behave as if the Linda Mwanainchi group is their personal property. There are about ten people who have the ownership of Linda and it is stopping then from looking at the big picture which is what PPK is doing.
The last big mess Linda is facing now is how to deal with the likes of James Orengo who also thinks he owns the group and wants to be declared the presidential candidate of the team in 2027 and it is a sad spectacle right now.
In media reports the internal Linda wars with James Orengo is now a big nightmare for the team. It is becoming a sad spectacle and a solution will have to be found one way or the other.
Orengo factor: Internal democracy or spoiler bid in Linda Mwananchi?
Orengo’s presidential declaration has exposed competing ambitions within Linda Mwananchi ahead of 2027 polls.
In the media reports, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has emerged as the de facto leader of the Linda Mwananchi faction and its presumptive presidential flag bearer, with supporters increasingly rallying behind him under the “Sisi ni Sifuna” catchphrase.
Sifuna has positioned himself as a formidable challenger to President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election, riding on his growing national profile and seeking to consolidate opposition support behind his presidential ambition.
With less than two months before the IEBC electoral timetable begins to bind political parties in October, political manoeuvring within the opposition has intensified, with leaders increasingly taking hardline positions and alliances beginning to take shape.
It is against this backdrop that Siaya Governor James Orengo, who had initially indicated support for Sifuna’s presidential bid, has emerged as a competing voice within Linda Mwananchi.
Orengo has now declared himself a serious contender for the presidency, raising questions about whether his move represents a genuine exercise of internal democracy or a potentially disruptive bid that could complicate Sifuna’s ambitions.
“From today, know that I’m the presidential candidate, a serious presidential candidate,” Orengo said during a burial ceremony in Oyugis town, Homa Bay county, on August 29.
Critics fear that a contested nomination process could trigger friction, fragment the movement or produce rival camps, particularly as Linda Mwananchi is yet to acquire the full rights associated with registration as a political party.
Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, who was present when Orengo made his declaration, cautioned opposition leaders against creating divisions within the movement and made clear his preference for Sifuna.
Speaking during a rally in Meru on August 30, Babu argued that opposition leaders needed to remain united, saying no single political formation could successfully capture the presidency on its own.
His position was echoed by other Linda Mwananchi leaders at the rally.
“So from today, we don’t want confusion,” said Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga.
Orengo, however, has dismissed the suggestion that he is merely seeking to spoil Sifuna’s presidential bid.
James Orengo is a struggling politician as Siaya Governor who can never hold a rally in Siaya County today and he will take any offers the Linda team can give him like being a legal advisor to the group.
“So, those who raise these fears are not democrats, and I can tell you if you don’t allow a process of internal democracy, then the case becomes very difficult to achieve unity,” he told Citizen TV on August 31.
Sifuna has maintained a muted stance and has not publicly responded to concerns over how the movement will manage competing internal ambitions.
Orengo’s declaration has nevertheless made the contest within the faction increasingly visible.
For some political analysts, the development is evidence that Linda Mwananchi lacks a clearly defined mechanism for resolving competing ambitions.
Some have also questioned the viability of Orengo’s presidential ambition, arguing that his entry into the race could have little impact on the final outcome and suggesting that his political experience would be better utilised in an advisory role.
How Linda Mwananchi resolves that contradiction could determine whether its current momentum develops into a credible national political force — or dissolves into another opposition alliance undone by competing ambitions.
In the meantime, the United Opposition group is dead with their King stuck in the USA doing absolutely nothing for their party. Maybe he is getting a load of money for himself and nothing else.
Martha Karua with her People Liberation Party (PLP) should have been doing what Ndindi Nyoro is doing right now. She is an experienced politician who has been in Kenya politics before Ndindi Nyoro was even born. She has seen sides of things starting with President Mwai Kibaki, working with Raila Odinga as the DP candidate in 2022 and more importantly she has own party and is running for the presidency.
Nothing is happening for Martha Karua now and she is tied to their fake Alternative Government with no plan for anything that Kenyans need.
