Right now, Rigathi Gachagua is battling in court to save his political ass from disappearing completely come 2027. Gachagua claimed that he had a heart attack the day his impeachment case was passed in parliament and moved to the Senate and so he could not make it to the Senate for the hearing.
The real heart attack Gachagua is going to have is if the courts are generous enough to declare his impeachment illegal and make him available to run for the presidency in 2027.
If you are President William Ruto you are praying that the courts can bring Gachagua back to active politics so you can wash the dirt and the flood water in the roads dragging him around as a dead presidential competitor in 2027.
The sad part of the whole situation is that Gachagua’s dear friends in the United Opposition like Kalonzo Musyoka and Fred Matiang’i are also praying that Gachagua’s impeachment is confirmed by the courts so that they don’t have to worry about him imposing himself as the opposition presidential candidate giving William Ruto a walk-over back to State House.
That is the life of that miserable politician who thinks he is the king of the whole country and yet even the people closest to him just wish he could disappear and go away.
Talk about the laughingstock the opposition in Kenya is today.

In the media, the Senate has raised questions on grave errors in the content of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s medical report by Dr Daniel Gikonyo.
Through a sworn affidavit by the Senate clerk Jeremiah Nyengenye, the Senate claims that the document indicates that Gachagua was in the hospital for 31 days instead of 3 days.
The Senate reveals that hospital documents state that Gachagua was rushed to Karen Hospital on October 17, 2024, at 3 pm, where he was attended to.
According to clerk Nyengenye, Gachagua’s doctor then recommended he be admitted for two to three days for close
monitoring.
However, he cites that the annexed “system generated” medical report shows that he was admitted to the facility for a month, being discharged on November 20, 2024.
In his submissions, Ojienda stated that they were surprised by the current development that claims Gachagua was sick and admitted to the hospital, yet his legal team informed the Senate that they were not aware of his whereabouts.
According to Ojienda, the doctor’s affidavit is grossly and extremely prejudicial to the third and fourth respondents (the speaker of the Senate and the Senate) because under the doctrine of separation of powers, the Senate rendered a verdict on the basis of no explanation given by Gachagua’s legal team.
In addition, he has averred that if the court allows the affidavit, then Doctor Gikonyo should be summoned to court and be cross-examined on the affidavit.
“My lords and lady, this is an embarrassing affidavit, and the only way to save Dr Gikonyo and everyone here is to strike out this affidavit,” SC Ojienda submitted.
Dr Gikonyo: I have been Gachagua’s doctor since July 2006

Doctor and cardiologist, Dr Dan Gikonyo, has informed the court that he has been the personal physician to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for almost 20 years.
Appearing before Milimani Law Court on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, Dr Gikonyo said he was first called to see Gachagua on July 10, 2006, and has been treating him since then on several occasions, including when the former deputy president was admitted to Karen Hospital on October 17, 2024, during his impeachment hearing in the Senate.
“I am acquainted with my patient, Hon. Rigathi Gachagua, whom I have taken care of from my record, your honour… I have been a doctor to the said Hon. Rigathi Gachagua since 5:10 pm on July 10, 2006,” Gikonyo said.
“My lords, the admission is when the technical details are entered in the admission papers after all other factors have been taken care of: who is insured and who is paying, and then the accounts have to be reported at that time after admission,” Doctor Gikonyo told the bench.
Notably, Doctor Gikonyo was asked to explain why the medical reports indicate that Gachagua was in the hospital for 31 days rather than three.
According to Doctor Gikonyo’s affidavit, the ex-DP was admitted to the facility on October 17, 2024, and discharged on October 20, 2024.
However, the “system generated” medical reports indicate that he was admitted on October 17, 2024, and discharged on November 20, 2024, at 1:36 pm.
Gikonyo has said that the discharge date indicated in the medical report does not mean his client was at the hospital for the entire month but that it means he paid his medical bill on November 20, 2024.
“Your honour, I can explain why that is so. Please explain the answer again; this type of process in hospitals involves accounting. You must pay for your discharge, and even if you have gone home and you have not paid your bill, you are typically not discharged. We call it an ‘open bill’,” Gikonyo told the bench.
At the end of the whole medical fiasco for Gachagua is the fact that he was lying that he was in hospital for 30 days and that is why he could not attend Senate hearing on his impeachment.
In reality Gachagua was in hospital for three days after his alleged heart attack and his doctor is saying the 30 days is about when Gachagua paid his medical bills. That is great and now Gachagua is about to pay the political bills after two years.
