The concept of a “credible agent” recently appeared in our politics in 2021 when a group of 41 MPs from Mt. Kenya protested to President Uhuru Kenyatta what they termed as lack of “credible agents” to link their region to the government.
The presidency belongs to the nation and even when one of you is the serving president, it’s still possible to come out with nothing. Those who surround him therefore play a critical role in ensuring resources reach far and wide.
A Credible agent is a person perched on the higher echelons of power, typically one with the ear of the President.
A credible agent must have a demonstrable desire to link a community, village, Ward, constituency, county or region to power. Not everyone around power are credible agents. Some immediately cut themselves off from the general society.
The reason many of us reject the incessant and increasingly petty attempts to remove PS Omollo from Interior by some daydreaming Luo ODM politicians is because PS Omollo is a CREDIBLE AGENT of the Luo community and Nyanza region in President Ruto’s government.
Long when these daydreaming Luo ODM politicians were still deep in worthless pursuits with the coming to power of President Ruto, it was to Omollo that the responsibility of pursuing Luo Nyanza interests, lay.
The irony though is that whereas some of these daydreaming ODM Luo politicians continue with their desperation to remove PS Omollo; both the rural and urban Luo who interacts with PS Omollo DAILY, whether in a school infrastructure funds drive, individual outreaches, social activities, churches, colleges, youth groups, women groups, elder Luo citizens, funerals, sports, community development; Luos within govt itself etc, want to hear none of this nonsense.
These daydreaming ODM Luo politicians still delude themselves that the wasted era when they used to concoct all manner of garbage against their percieved political enemies and go smear them to Raila is no more.
The worst hit county is Homa Bay, where service to the people never counted so long as you did your politics of smearing your competitors well.
Most Homa Bay politicians today spend too much time plotting the downfalls of people they did not raise to the top.
They are yet to understand that there’s no more Raila Odinga to help you destroy your political opponents — including civil servants.
If Omollo is such an encumberance, tell us who you want him replaced with. ODM nominated 17 or so Principal Secretaries in the Ruto govt; why is there no focus on this group by these daydreaming ODM politicians or is it because they nominated from their usual pool of family and close associates?
This generation of Luos reject unnecessary internal fights. People want leaders to collaborate and cooperate. But how can you collaborate and cooperate with people who — whenever they meet President Ruto — their first agenda is ‘Omollo Must Go’.
This will not happen. It should not be happening. These daydreaming Luo ODM politicians desperate to be worshipped, those who foment divisions, those used to easy sliding, those with untamed ambitions, those who eschew collaboration and those selfish types whose recommendations start and end with their families— y’all will be defeated.
PS Omollo is to the Luo what Karume, Michuki, Muthaura, Kimemia, Wanjui, Kibicho and Murage were to GEMA.
PS Omollo is a very credible agent both for President Ruto, and for our community.
