Gachagua’s entire politics is based on isolating Luo Nyanza from accessing benefits from government — whether infrastructure development or employment in government, particularly employment in the consequential senior ranks of government.

1. When Sindo Town in Suba was flooded and the area MP Caroli Omondi went to his office to seek for government assistance — his being the office charged with coordinating response to national disasters — he refused to help and chased away the MP, despite the fact that Caroli was then backing the Ruto-Gachagua government at a time most Luo leaders were still on the streets and anti-government.
2. When he heard, in early 2023, that President Ruto intended to support Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga for the AUC, he flatly rejected the idea, which he would only reluctantly embrace when President Ruto moved on to actualize it, forcing him to chew cud and fall in line.
3. When the Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga attended funerals in Mt. Kenya; Gachagua used the opportunity to scathingly attack him; claiming he was sabotaging the economy with his endless protests. He never paused to realize protests are how this nation has survived autocracy.
4. When President Ruto toured Luo Nyanza, the following week, Gachagua used to insist the President tours Mt. Kenya region to reassure the people that ‘Luos were not coming to government’. Why was this necessary? There this sad cycle where each time the President toured Nyanza, he had to Mt. Kenya to massage Gachagua’s ego.
5. Gachagua’s shareholding politics is well known. He used to boast that he has placed TRAPS (mitego) inside State House to nab those who did not vote for their ticket; and that if he finds those people queued to access services of the Govt, he would ensure they go back to the tail-end of the queue. To Gachagua, Kalenjins and GEMA had 70% of government, Luhyas had 30% and the rest were to wait at the back of the queue and hope for the best.
6. Much in the run up to the 2022 polls, Gachagua used to claim how development projects which had been earmarked for Mt. Kenya were diverted to Luo Nyanza. For simple rural voters in Mt. Kenya; such claims made them feel Luos were taking what belonged to them, never mind in Luo Nyanza, Uhuru’s so called ‘projects’ still paled in comparison to what he was directing to Mt. Kenya. For Gachagua, anything that benefited Luo Nyanza was unacceptable.
7. Gachagua’s “cousin politics” seeks to segment the country into a nepotistic nation where communities view each other on account of some colonially ingrained migratory relations – ralations that other historians have questioned as incompetent. Luo Nyanza is not part of Gachagua’s “cousins family” which to him is a marker of those who belong, thus have a right to the resources of the state; and those who do not belong, and therefore have no rights.
7. Gachagua’s primitive tribalistic politics is a danger not just to those who do not share a tribe with him; but also to those who do; for it seeks to pit GEMA against other communities, particularly THE LUO. From 2007, Kikuyus who conducted businesses in Nyanza have tried to return, some with great success. Gachagua’s toxic tribalism risks returning tribal relations to the misfortunes of 2007, and nobody wants to go back there — Kikuyu and non-Kikuyu.
8. Gachagua’s anti-Luo agenda saw him exit government purely as a result of entry of Luos. He calls President Ruto a betrayer for expanding government and bringing in more communities and regions. His minions have particularly focused their rage on Luos, always quick to celebrate what they see as ‘Luo failures’. Even death attracts celebration from his minions, like what came from the unhinged mouth of the Nyeri Governor.
9. Gachagua’s political surrogates are anti-Luo hate-mongers. Characters like Nyandarua Senator Methu, Senator Thangwa, Jayne Kihara, Mwalimu Kahiga and others have openly pursued anti-Luo discriminatory politics.
10. Gachagua’s 50% shares is particularly for used on senior government positions currently held by those of Luo extraction. He believes Mbadi, Wandayi, Dorcas, Omolo etc should not sit in those positions they currently do. He believes there are positions that Luos should not occupy.
Having laid down these charges, Gachagua is NOT WELCOME in our region until such a time his stance will change. Proportional representation and “portfolio balance” is a Luo irreducible minimum.
