TRELAWNY, Jamaica: – The Trelawny police are probing the circumstances surrounding the shooting to death of a woman who was killed inside her church by a man posing as a member of the congregation.
The incident reportedly took place in Falmouth in the parish this morning.
The woman has been identified as 51-year-old Andrea Lowe-Garwood, bank manager of Brook Manner in the parish.
Reports are that about 9:30 a.m., Lowe-Garwood was in a worship session at her church in the parish, when a man posing as a member of the congregation walked over to her and shot her several times before escaping in a white motorcar.
Lowe-Garwood was assisted to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Police say three persons of interest were taken into custody in connection with the murder of 51-year-old Andrea Lowe-Garwood in Trelawny today.
Additionally, the vehicle which is believed to be used by the gunmen to escape the scene of the crime has also been seized, according to a Twitter post from the Jamaica Defence Force. (JCF).
The trio was reportedly picked up sometime after 3:00 p.m., during a police operation in St. James
Lowe Garwood, an employee of the National Commercial Bank, was shot several times at about 10:30 a.m., in the midst of worship at the Agape Christian Fellowship Church on Market Street.
The gunman then escaped in a waiting motor car.
While many terrified worshippers screamed and openly wept, other congregants could be seen scampering for cover as gunshots rang out.
The disruption in the church service was observed on Facebook Live, which the church was using to stream its activities.
