Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has intensified her criticism of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), openly vowing never to join the outfit.
In a strongly worded post shared on her social media platforms on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, Wamuchomba launched a fresh attack on DCP, mockingly referring to it as the “maskio party” due to its symbol, a hand cupping an ear.
She accused members of the party of constantly hurling insults at leaders from the Mt Kenya region who are not politically aligned with them, calling such leaders “moles” and “betrayers”.
The outspoken legislator reflected on the aftermath of the 2022 elections, recalling how former President Uhuru Kenyatta warned Mt Kenya residents against electing William Ruto and his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua.
According to Wamuchomba, many dismissed Uhuru’s cautionary words, telling him to finish his term and leave power.
However, she claimed that his warning has since materialised, pointing to high taxes, collapsing businesses, demolished homes, reduced tea bonuses, and the painful loss of young lives as a result of decisions made by the same leaders they trusted.
Wamuchomba, while reacting to Gachagua’s remarks recently, while referring to Kiambaa MP John Kawanjiku, whom he campaigned for in 2021, as a “Tugege”, said that instead of the former DP championing for the rights of Mt Kenya people, such as tea reforms, according to her, he is busy insulting children of single mothers, such as MP Kawanjiku.
“The Emotional Battalion is at it again, abusing everyone who is NOT associating with the Maskio party. Politics of emotion is self-destructive. In the year 2022, Uhuru told us not to follow THEM. We told HIM Maliza aende. He told us Mtaregrett; we told him hatukuli barabara… Maliza Uende, See now” Wamuchomba said
