“We have respect for President Uhuru Kenyatta. However, if you want to destroy the ODM Party by sending wheeler-dealers to us, then we reject your plans. We will not take that matter lightly, as we will deal with it perpendicularly.”
That was the statement from Homabay Governor Gladys Wanga made over the weekend during a public rally attended by President Ruto, and now the opposition big mouths are all over the place trying to attack the governor for making a pretty harmless and general statement about her party.
Pauline Njoroge, Jubilee Deputy Organizing Secretary and a self-professed champion for the Matiang’i presidential campaign and many other Uhuru supporters were all over the map, making all sorts of statements and promising the imminent collapse of the ODM party.
They are going to wait for the ODM collapse for the next 20 years. Jubilee, as a national political party, does not even have MPs in parliament and, for all practical purposes, is dead and was buried after Uhuru’s presidency was over in 2022.

“It’s obvious that Uhuru Kenyatta’s popularity, even in ODM zones and the reception he got during Baba’s funeral, is really bothering some people. Instead of dealing with their own internal disagreements, they have decided to make him the scapegoat,” Njoroge said.
“The truth is ODM is divided from within. Some leaders are comfortable enjoying the benefits of the broad-based government and selling the party to that front, while others, especially the younger generation, are clearly not pro-government and want to take a different path. That disconnect is the real problem, not outsiders,” Njoroge explained.
The nightmare for Uhuru with his Fred Matiang’i project is that Rigathi Gachagua is against that deal by Uhuru and they are both competing for that Kikuyu vote.
If Matiang’i can’t get that vote it is a waste of time for him to run for the presidency. Gachagua is an impeached political loser who cannot run for any office and cannot even be appointed to a job as the Kenya ambassador to Somalia because he cannot hold a public office anywhere for the country.

Kalonzo is begging for Gachagua support, but that Kikuyu vote may not like being treated the way Gachagua did in 2022 by herding the votes for Ruto and then Ruto kicks out Gachagua. How about they vote for Kalonzo, and things go haywire again, and Gachagua is not working with Kalonzo?
And in God’s name, what happened to Martha Karua, who already said she is not going to run to be anybody’s Deputy President? And Matiang’i?
The opposition in Kenya today has very serious problems, and they know they are going nowhere.
As for Uhuru Kenyatta, he is a smart politician, and he will see where the national mood is as we approach the 2027 big elections, and he will go with what is sensible for the country. He is not desperate for anyone in particular to be the president come 2027 elections.
The political alliance President Ruto is working on with ODM could work for both parties, but first, it has to work for the country and for Kenyans. Ruto could be re-elected quite comfortably if he actually completes most of the projects he is working on at this time.
It is the results of William Ruto’s work on the ground, and of course, the alliances he is building, that will determine the fate of the government in 2027.
