Former President Uhuru Kenyatta, also the Azimio Chairperson convinced KANU and his Jubilee Party to be part of the planned public gatherings across the country as a collective responsibility of the Opposition.

According to reports, Mr. Kenyatta chairs ”The Council”, Azimio Coalition’s top decision-making organ which sanctioned the public meetings kicking off today, December 7th at the Kamukunji grounds in Nairobi and will also be held in other major towns including Mombasa, Nakuru, Kisumu, and Kakamega, among others.

The Opposition forums will run for 30 days before Raila Odinga makes a final declaration on their next step. The Azimio agenda will be pushed through parliamentary initiatives, judicial actions, as well as through the court of public opinion.

Issues Mr. Odinga and his battalion want addressed by government include the current high cost of living, forcible removal of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioners, the arbitrary sacking of civil servants, and unfulfilled campaign promises.

Others are lack of ethnic balance in appointments and disregard of Chapter Six of the Constitution in appointments, as well as the unprocedural GMO food importation into the country.
