What they said on Gachagua artists’ boycott remarks
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has come under fire from a section of leaders over his remarks that artists who visited DP Kithure Kindiki should be boycotted.
Gachagua asked the artists to apologise to the community or be boycotted and unfollowed.
Speaking at AIPCA Kihoya in Murang’a County, Gachagua stated that the artists are traitors to the community.
Gachagua noted that after discussions with Mt Kenya elders, they demand that the artists apologise to the community.
The former DP said that should they fail to, the community should stop listening to their music and entertainment joints should stop inviting them to perform.
It is now obvious that the worst thing President William Ruto did to the opposition in Kenya was to give them Rigathi Gachagua. The man is destroying the opposition everyday. He wants to run a country called the Mt. Kenya republic and nothing like that exists.
Ruto knew Gachagua was a rabid tribalist and he figured you throw him into the opposition he will turn it into a complete joke and that is what is happening. Our opposition leaders are better off in Tanzania and Uganda but not in Jamhuri where Gachagua is pissing over them and making the entire opposition look foolish.
Martha Karua is now a lawyer in Uganda and I have never seen Karua go to court to defend any Kenyan activist in our courts in Kenya. Maybe Martha Karua should run for the presidency in Uganda and go head to head with Museveni or even in Tanzania.
Martha Karua is not helping Kizza Besigye, the Ugandan opposition leader to avoid jail, she is sending him to jail as she campaigns to be a presidential candidate in Kenya. That is her agenda. Poor Besigye has to deal with that. Too bad for him.
His lawyers in Uganda could negotiate a deal for him to get out and not run for the presidency which he will not win but Martha Karua has her own agenda there.
And here is the fake opposition in Kenya today. Once in a while the Kenyan opposition used to hold rallies all across the country. This new opposition is dead. These guys think that standing out with a white beard is what the opposition is. Just clumsy nonsense.
Opposition calls for an end to abductions and extrajudicial killings
The opposition, led by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, is now calling for an end to political violence, abductions and extrajudicial killings in the country.
Speaking after a visit to Karen Hospital, where Juja MP George Koimburi is undergoing treatment after an alleged abduction, the leaders urged citizens and civil society groups, and the international community to rally behind this call.
They also called for an end to what they termed as ‘state backed’ disruption of peaceful political gatherings.
“We urge every citizen, civil society group, religious leaders, and international allies to stand in solidarity with us in demanding: An immediate cessation of all politically motivated violence, abductions and extrajudicial killings.
“An end to state-backed disruption of peaceful political assemblies,” the leaders said in a joint statement”
Once upon a time we had real opposition politics in Kenya. Not anymore.
