Ruto Sacks Muturi, Moves Duale to Afya House

President William Ruto has sacked CS Justin Muturi and nominated Mbeere Member of Parliament Geoffrey Kiringa Ruku as Cabinet Secretary for Public Service.

“His Excellency the president has today instituted further changes to the senior ranks of the executives within Cabinet. By the Presidential action, the Cabinet is set to achieve its constitutional full strength,” read part of a statement shared by State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed.

The announcement of the changes, made in a statement issued by Chief of Staff Felix Koskei on Wednesday, also saw Environment CS Aden Duale re-assigned to the Health Ministry and CS Deborah Barasa replaces him at Mazingira House.

Additionally, President Ruto has nominated Hanna Wendot Cheptumo as Gender Cabinet Secretary. She is the widow of Baringo Senator William Cheptumo who died in February this year.

Ruku and Cheptumo will now face MPs for vetting and if successful, will be the latest entrants into the ever-changing Ruto Cabinet.

“The two nominees are expected to bring to the Cabinet not only the knowledge and experience acquired over the course of their illustrious careers but, above all, their wisdom accumulated from their inspiring and diverse life journeys,” reads the communication by Head of Public Service Felix Koskei.

“Accordingly, and in accordance with Article 152(5)(a) of the Constitution, the following Cabinet Secretaries have been reassigned Aden Bare Duale, Health Ministry and Deborah Mulongo Barasa to the Environment, Climate Change and Forestry,” a communication by Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei said.

Prior to him being Environment CS, Duale served as the Cabinet Secretary for Defence having assumed the position on October 31, 2022
