Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s widow, Mama Ida Odinga, has joined President William Ruto in New York as the Head of State leads a high-powered Kenyan delegation in an engagement with Kenyans living in the United States.
The meeting, held at Convene, 30 Hudson Yards, brought together Kenyans from across the US for discussions on diaspora affairs, government priorities and opportunities for Kenyans abroad to contribute to national development.
Ruto arrived in New York on Sunday ahead of the 81st United Nations General Assembly, where Kenya is expected to push its investment, trade and digital economy agenda.
Mama Ida’s appearance alongside Ruto comes months after the President nominated her to represent Kenya at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), a nomination that was subsequently considered by Parliament.
