Speculations as former CJ Maraga meets activists
The real battle in Kenya today is to figure out who is a presidential candidate who can dump the Ruto regime in the garbage bin where they belong.
Kenyans are mad with the Ruto regime as everybody knows but Ruto has been bragging all along that there is nobody in the opposition who can beat him in 2027 and for all practical purposes he has been right.
Rigathi Gachagua with his endless Munyoro meetings and going to every church and funeral during the weekends cannot even run for any office in Kenya. He will continue doing his routine for the next 2 years and Kenyans will just forget about him. It is going to become too boring for them.
Kalonzo Musyoka has projected himself as Gachuaga’s little boy but Kenyans know Kalonzo very well and they know William Ruto will beat him handily.

Since Gachagua cannot run for any office he is going to put one his followers in Mt. Kenya to babysit Kalonzo and Kenyans will not put up with with an established system guy who has never done anything in Kenya than politics in office and who will be a toy ball for Gachagua.
That is a dead ticket specifically because the Gen Z population could very well determine the next presidential election results.
The other day I saw Kalonzo Musyoka make a statement which confirmed to me that he does not have any clue about the battle in front of him and is still pre-occupied with how to get rid of Raila Odinga.
The issue that Kenyans face today is how to remove William Ruto from State House and Kalonzo for once needs to forget about Raila Odinga who is doing his own business very admirably as he tries to get the AUC leadership and this was my response.
Will Kalonzo Retire after he loses to William Ruto in 2027?
Raila should retire if he loses AUC bid – Kalonzo
Wiper Party Kalonzo Musyoka has said former Prime Minister Raila Odinga should retire if he loses the African Union Commission chairmanship seat.
Kalonzo said should Raila lose the bid, he should retire from active politics in the country.
Speaking on Monday during the Social Newsroom Show with journalist Mark Masai, Kalonzo, however, added that he wishes Raila well in the AUC bid, saying he stands out in that leadership role.
The Wiper leader said that the continent will benefit from Raila’s extensive skills should he clinch the seat.
“I don’t see how Raila Odinga would lose the chairmanship and come back and say he wants to lead Azimio. I would be amazed personally. That would not be the Raila I know. He must also have a reality check, for now, the option is he goes if he wins beautiful for himself, the country and the continent. If he loses, I think he should simply retire,” Kalonzo said.
“I would advise Raila to retire, and join former President Uhuru Kenyatta in that capacity. Retired statesmen.”
Kalonzo: It’s my time, others should step down for me
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has declared that he will not support another presidential candidate, insisting it is now time for others to step aside for him.
The former Vice President emphasized that he has made significant sacrifices in the past, having stepped down for former Prime Minister Raila Odinga three times.
Speaking to Mulembe Nation radio stations on Thursday, Kalonzo asserted that he is the strongest candidate to defeat President William Ruto in 2027.
“I have waited for 20 years. There comes a time when even the world acknowledges that it is your time,” he said.
“The moment has come for others to pave the way for me so we can save this country.”
I am sure Kenyans are waiting to hear Kalonzo Muysoka asking William Ruto to step down for him because it is his time. Just utter nonsense.
The issue that people like Kalonzo should be focused on is how to get voter registration going full length for the next two years. Right now young Kenyans who want to register as voters need an ID and it costs Sh. 1,000.00 and it takes forever to get the card. The entire opposition including ODM, Kalonzo and Martha Karua need to sit down with William Ruto and agree that I.D for Kenyans will be issued for free right now and then voter registration goes on for the next two years. Those new voters will be for every candidate including Ruto.
The first time I applied for my I.D in my hometown I was asked to provide a Birth Certificate. Who the heck has that in Kenya? But my mother through her church issued birth certificates and she kept them. So I got my I.D very quick.
I was 20 years old going to the University so I was told I need an ID. My mother had to go to church and get all those papers.
Many of those young Kenyans do not have Birth Certificates because it is a very complicated process. Can that be sorted out with the president so these Kenyans get IDs and register to vote?
Right now Kenyans need to register as voters for 2027 and this will be a very peaceful process and the Gen Z population can agree that it is good to decide the leadership of the country including the presidency with their votes.
What can possibly be wrong with that? Lets do it for the 75% of the people in our beloved nation who are 35 years old or younger. It is their country. Let them run it.
Today President Ruto waived restrictions for citizens in Wajir to get I.Ds. This should should be done all across the country.
Ruto publicly signs decree to scrap I.D vetting in border counties
“We want the people of Northern Kenya to feel equal to the rest of the country.”

President William Ruto on Wednesday interacted with Wajir residents at Orahey grounds as he publicly read out and signed the Presidential Proclamation on Registration and Issuance of IDs.
“We want the people of Northern Kenya to feel equal to the rest of the country.”
Ruto Ends ID vetting for Northeastern residents
The President said the move will see residents of Northern Kenya acquire IDs with ease

President William Ruto has signed a Presidential Proclamation to officially abolish Identification Cards vetting for residents of the Northeastern region.
If William Ruto can make sure young voters who could be up to 10 million do not register at all to vote he is in up to 2032. Do our politicians even see that dimension?
They don’t because that is out of their simplistic reach. Good for them and terrible for the country. The good news is that William Ruto is very beatable in 2027. Who and which party can do that is the issue on the table right now.
And then Kenyans have the Martha Karua disaster in the making as she launches her new party and meets Gachagua while telling Kenyans he must run for the presidency in 2027.
Martha Karua and Rigathi Gachagua Meeting Defines The Nightmare the Opposition Faces in Kenya.

And Gachagua had gifts for Martha Karua. Hopefully these are not the sheep stolen from the Uhuru family farm sometime back. Talk about contradictions in life and politics. It is always there because that is where it has life. I don’t mean the poor sheep. I mean politicians like these two characters and their hypocrisy.
It is a good thing that the opposition leaders in Kenya are meeting to strategize how to take the war to President Ruto in 2027. There is a sense of leadership and looking for what is good for Kenya and not just for themselves.
Now let’s look a the nitty gritty in these meetings. Rigathi Gachagua has made it clear he is working with Kalonzo Musyoka to bring Ruto down. Now he is meeting with Martha Karua for the same purpose.
The trouble there is that Kalonzo Musyoka is going to run for the presidency and Martha Karua has also stated that she is running for the presidency this time and will not be anybody’s deputy for the job.
Simply put that means Kalonzo Musyoka is not going to run in a joint presidential ticket with Martha Karua because none of them is going to be the deputy candidate for the other.
The other thing is that Gachagua probably realizes now is that when William Ruto was going nuts with him he should have resigned once he saw the resources President Ruto was investing to get rid of him. Also we know that the parliament does not exist in Kenya anymore because Ruto runs it like his private company.
In fact Gachagua has said that President Ruto offered him Sh. 2 billion to retire before the impeachment.
He should have taken that money. In any case President Ruto gave Gachagua Sh. 200 million as soon as they took power and Ruto ordered the DPP to withdraw the public theft case against Gachagua and meant his Sh. 200 million theft money which was withheld by the government was given back to him. He can just eat that quietly.
Fred Matiang’i and William Ruto know each other every well and he could very well join Ruto for the 2027 elections if he gets the right amount of money from him,
Fred Matiang’i was the chief security guy for Uhuru and Ruto in 2018 and after the failed elections he slaughtered a lot of Kenyans including babies for them during the protests as the matter went to the Supreme Court.
I was in Kenya that time for the elections and my friend rushed me to JKIA to get out because she said my son was too young to face that terror in Nairobi after the elections in 2017.
Now we hear that Jubilee Party through their comical leader Jeremiah Kioni are going to nominate Fred Matiang’i as their presidential candidate. Hilarious, isn’t it? So Gachagua has Kalonzo Musyoka and Kioni has Fred Matiang’i to be his DP candidate. There has to be better ways to lose the election to William Ruto in 2027.

Jubilee Party has endorsed former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i as its presidential candidate in the 2027 general elections.
This is the same Kioni who goes everywhere with Kalonzo as they build a new opposition alliance but now he is telling Kalonzo that Jubilee does not think Kalonzo is good enough to win the presidency. And they think they are still going to work together. That will not work.
Fred Matiang’i can run as the Jubilee Presidential candidate with Jeremiah Kioni as his deputy and everybody knows that is a ticket to nowhere.
And Eugene Wamalwa is of no consequence at all to this new alliance and they want those Luhya votes. Really?

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua and DAP Party leader Eugene Wamalwa attend the unveiling of DAP’s new headquarters in Karen, Nairobi on January 27, 2025.
Simple question to this group. Who is your presidential candidate? They have no idea about that.
How about Kalonzo and Waititu as his running mate. That will defeat William Ruto by a landslide! Please don’t laugh loudly.

So we have Martha Karua running for the presidency with some DP. Jubilee will have Fred Mataing’i running with some Jubilee DP. William Ruto will be in the race most likely with Anne Waiguru as his DP. Who wins. Your guess is as good as mine. We all know who wins that race in 2027.
It is under those circumstances that the arrival of Justice David Maraga in the political limelight becomes very big news for Kenyans.
Former Chief Justice David Maraga has sparked speculation after hosting a group of civil society activists at his Nairobi residence.
The Tuesday meeting, which primarily included Gen Z activists, comes at a time when young people are actively pushing for governance reforms in Kenya.
In a video that has since gone viral, Maraga is seen joining the group in singing a popular liberation song that gained prominence during the 2024 anti-government protests.
Following the meeting on Tuesday, Maraga took to his official social media page, expressing his support for the youth-led movement.
“The youth’s struggle for a better Kenya deserves all our support,” he wrote.
“Thank you, @Nyamisa_Chela, and your team for the courtesy call. I was inspired by your passion and commitment to transforming
Kenya into a better place for everyone,” Maraga added.
The fast-rising youth movement has been at the forefront of civil society’s push for accountability, better governance, and constitutionalism.
In the viral video, Maraga is seen joining in the patriotic song that Gen Z activists sang while honouring victims of last year’s anti-government protests.
The Swahili song’s lyrics revolve around the theme of youth sacrificing themselves for the country’s greater good.
Rights activist Nyamisa Chelagat, who was part of the delegation, described the meeting as a significant moment in their struggle for governance reforms.
“We paid a courtesy call on @dkmaraga. We updated him on the movement’s fight for good governance, the rule of law, and constitutionalism—issues he deeply relates to. We inducted him into the movement; he sang with us as we welcomed him to the struggle to liberate Kenya,” Nyamisa said.
Since retiring as Chief Justice, Maraga has largely maintained a low profile but has occasionally spoken out against government excesses, abductions and extrajudicial killings.
He is seen as one of the country’s foremost human rights defenders and one of the leaders with impeccable credentials having annulled the 2017 presidential elections.
Last week, he warned that the continued abductions and killings threaten the legitimacy of the Kenya Kwanza administration.
His latest meeting with activists has fueled social media discussions, with many calling for him to either run for the presidency in 2027 or apply for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairperson position.
However, Maraga has not declared any political ambitions or expressed interest in the IEBC role.
He strongly condemned the rising cases of abductions and extrajudicial killings, describing them as a betrayal of Kenya’s future and a violation of the Constitution.
“A leadership that abets a culture of killings and human rights violations jeopardizes its legitimacy,” he stated.
Maraga emphasized that every Kenyan, especially the youth, deserves to live in safety and security while pursuing their dreams.
“We cannot be lulled into complacency in the face of such assaults on our shared humanity,” he added.
Can any Kenyan imagine the prospect of Justice David Maraga running for the presidency with Okiya Omtatah or Maina Kiai as his DP. William Ruto would lose even before the elections. And if our Gen Z can register to vote in tens of millions then even if Oscar Sudi is the IEBC chief, William Ruto will lose the elections and in fact he could even run away from the country and go to Dubai before the elections.
The problems Kenyans will face in 2027 is that we are going to have presidential candidates from the opposition who know they cannot win but they will want to register themselves in the presidential race so that after William leaves office in 2032 they can have a chance. That is what Martha Karua, Kalonzo Muysoka and Fred Matiang’i are going to try to pull off.
If Kenyans get real candidates who can beat William Ruto all these jokers will be gone out of politics forever. It is time for Kenyans to talk to Justice Maraga and Omtatah about this option very seriously.
And here are some of the real problems Kenyans have to deal with as we head to the next general election.
Mlolongo 3: Mwau died due to neck compression – autopsy

Martin Nzyuko Mwau, one of the three men earlier reported missing in Mlolongo, Machakos county before his body was found at the Nairobi Funeral Home, died of asphysia due to neck compression, an autopsy has revealed.
This is according to a Directorate of Criminal Investigations report seen by the Star. The report states that postmortems on bodies belonging to Mwau and Justus Mutumwa Musyimi were conducted on Wednesday.
Asphyxia is a lack of oxygen or excess of carbon dioxide in the body that is usually caused by interruption of breathing and that causes unconsciousness.
“Following the discovery of two bodies at the Nairobi Funeral Home suspected to be of the two missing persons, namely Justus Mutumwa Musyimi and Martin Nzyuko Mwau, please be informed that today, February 5, 2025, the postmortem was conducted on the two severely decomposed bodies by the government pathologist, namely Dr Richard Njoroge, in the presence of family pathologist Dr Omuok, family members, government chemist experts, DCI, CSI, IPOA, and human rights groups,” the report read in part.
The report done by the Athi River subcounty Criminal Investigations Officer Langat Kiprotich with the subject ‘follow-up report on the missing persons had a reference, ‘Refer my earlier OB NO 23/21/12/2024 concerning missing persons report.’
“From one body believed to be of Justus Mutumwa Musyimi, the pathologists formed the opinion that the death was caused by multiple abdominal, chest, and head injuries due to blunt force trauma,” the report read in part.
It continued, “From the body believed to be of Martin Nzyuko Mwau, the pathologist opined that the cause of death was asphyxia due to neck compression. Samples were collected by the government chemist analysts for toxicology and DNA sampling for conclusive identification,” the report read.
And things are getting worse for the thugs running the country.
Police officer implicated in Rex Masai murder at pains to explain CCTV footage, mobile phone data

One of the police officers implicated in Rex Masai’s murder during the anti-government protests, Isaiah Muraguri, was arraigned on Wednesday together with former Nairobi Police Commander Adamson Bungei, who is the current director of police operations.
The inquest into the death of Masai, who was shot on June 20, 2024, resumed from its initial session in December and continued into its second day.
During the inquest, Muraguri struggled to explain who was in the two new CCTV videos presented in court, which showed individuals believed to be plainclothes police officers firing at protesters and deploying tear gas near City Hall towards the Hilton Hotel.
“I didn’t believe the people in the video were police officers; they appeared to be criminals with weapons similar to those used by the police,” Muraguri said.
The videos showed individuals believed to be Muraguri and his colleagues firing at and beating protesters.
Muraguri denied being one of them but acknowledged that he had been stationed at the Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC) on the day of the incident, though he was not in uniform.
He claimed to have forgotten the colour of his clothes and therefore could not confirm if he was among the officers seen in the CCTV footage, despite his earlier signed statement in court and to IPOA, which stated that he had worn a black cap, black coat, a white T-shirt, and khaki pants.
“I couldn’t identify the officers in that video,” he added.
The inquest was also presented with data provided by a communication company, showing that Muraguri’s phone had been in the area at the time of the incident, recorded near City Hall and other locations such as KICC, Farmers House, Norwich Union Tower, Kariokor, and Hotel 680.
However, Muraguri denied using that phone on the day of Rex’s death, insisting he had stopped using that line long ago.
“I stopped using that phone a long time ago. I didn’t know who was using it on that day. I wasn’t out past my duty hours; I went back home at 7 p.m.,” he noted.
Bungei, who at the time of the incident was the Nairobi Police Commander, also distanced himself from any involvement in the killing.
He claimed that no shots were fired by his police unit during the protests and suggested that Rex may have been killed by another armed individual, not a police officer.
