Majority Leader in the National Assembly Amos Kimunya has revealed President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM Raila Odinga will meet Members of Parliament to individually thank them, for overwhelmingly passing the Constitutional Amendment Bill 2020 on Thursday evening.

Speaking to the media from parliament buildings on Friday morning, the Kipipiri MP said the two handshake principals were happy with the BBI and are looking forward to the meeting.

”They kept up to date with the voting, they did not sleep. They are very happy’. They kept upto date with the voting, they were monitoring and they are very happy the people’s representative stood with the people. They will have an opportunity to met with the members and thank them in person,”Kimunya said.

After the emphatic win in the National Assembly, the bill proceeds to the Senate where members will also take a vote for, or against it. Kimunya, who was accompanied by MPs Junet Mohammed, Maoka More, and Emmanuel Wangwe urged the senate to vote and pass the document overwhelmingly, just as it has been in the County and National Assemblies.

”We know our brothers and sisters and the Senate represent the counties and the interest of the counties. We had 44 county assemblies voting for the BBI. I expect all the senators from the 44, to represent the interests of those counties. If your county assembly has voted yes, I do not expect the senator to vote against the interest of their counties,” Kimunya added.
