President Uhuru Kenyatta last night commissioned five new hospitals in Nairobi County and directed them to offer 24-hour services to residents. The Head of State has now explained why he chose to launch the projects at night instead of waiting to do the work during the day.

”We went at night because of two reasons. We wanted to ensure we are observing Covid protocols and as you have seen, it would have been impossible to do what we have done today, during the day because of the number of people and at the same time observe the Covid-19 protocols,” the president said.

”We also discovered Nairobi hospitals opened at 8 o’clock in the morning and closed at 6 o’clock in the evening. Meaning those few hospitals available within Nairobi if somebody was sick it meant, after six the only facility they access was the Kenyatta National Hospital,” he added.

Among the facilities commissioned by President Uhuru were five hospitals in Gichagi Kangemi, Gatina in Kawangware, Mukuru kwa Ruben, Tasia, and Mukuru Kwa Njenga.
