Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina has made serious allegations against leaders of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), claiming that the party is being used to collect money from political aspirants in exchange for favors.
In a statement this week on Thursday, Njeri Maina accused DCP Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala of allegedly collecting money from politicians who want to run for office under the party.
According to her, aspirants and even elected leaders are being asked to pay in order to receive direct party tickets or special access to the party leader Rigathi Gachagua.
Njeri Maina explained how Malala is operating what she described as an extortion racket, where politicians are made to believe that paying money will guarantee them support within the party.
Her claims have added to earlier accusations that have also been directed at Rigathi Gachagua, with some critics alleging that aspirants are being pressured to contribute money in order to secure political backing.
