Mt Kenya MPs are seeking to have a meeting with former President Uhuru Kenyatta. Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro is believed to be the organizing force behind the forum which has President William Ruto’s blessings.
On Sunday, the head of state extended an olive branch to the Azimio Coalition, which Uhuru is part of, prompting a ceasefire between the two camps. Mr. Kenyatta has been accused by Mt Kenya MPs of financing the halted opposition demonstrations.
According to reports, the lawmakers also want to deliver an apology to the former president after his property was targetted by goons (associated with DP Rigathi Gachagua) who attacked his Northlands farm and took off with over 1,000 sheep. The invasion came just days after Majority Leader in the National Assembly Kimani Ichungwa warned the Kenyattas their Ruiru farm would be targetted.
The lawmakers have also distanced themselves from their colleagues who supported the attack on Mama Ngina’s property.
