Mumias Sugar Paying Cane Farmers Ksh 6050 Per Tonne as Company Roars Back To Life

Mumias Sugar Company has announced a resumption of operations from December 1st and will be buying cane from farmers at Ksh. 6,050 per tonne, this is according to a public notice from the company on Friday.

The company has told farmers it will start harvesting and receiving canes at its weighbridges starting this Monday, 27th.

In October while visiting Migori County, President William Ruto said the Government will lease sugar factories in a bid to revive the ailing sector, noting that will ensure prudent management of the factories to safeguard the interests of farmers.

He explained that resources from the private sector will be instrumental in upgrading the factories’ facilities to enhance efficiency.
