Gideon Gichuki, a 22-year-old man from Kiambu who invited ODM leader Raila Odinga for his birthday last week was gifted a Friesian cow by the former prime minister.

Pictures circulating online show the Githunguri village taking care of his new cow, days after Mr. Odinga’s impromptu visit to their home.

Gichuki, a youth leader stumbled upon the ODM leader’s number online, thereafter sent him an invitation to grace his birthday. Raila was in Zambia attending the swearing-in ceremony of President Hakainde Hichilema when he received Gichuki’s message.

“I attempted to get the ODM leader’s number and a friend showed me how to get it online. I started chatting with the former PM and to my surprise, he responded courteously and we have been chatting since then,” said the 22-year-old.

“I believe the family can continue to supplement their earnings once the cow starts giving milk, which you can sell and get some income,” Raila said after handing over his gift.

The ODM leader also urged Mt Kenya region to support his bid for the presidency during his impromptu visit, saying he is the best-suited candidate to take over from President Uhuru, given his track record both politically and economically.
