“I will immediately engage in extensive consultations across different sectors and political formations, to set up a broad-based government that will assist me in accelerating and expediting the necessary, urgent and irreversible, implementation of radical programmes to deal with the burden of debt, raise domestic resources, expanding job opportunities, eliminate wastage and unnecessary duplication of a multiplicity of government agencies and slay the dragon of corruption consequently making the government lean, inexpensive, effective and efficient.”
President William Ruto realizing that Kenyans want to fire him and vote in a new government is thinking of every way possible to fool the citizens and stay in power while telling Gen Z protestors that the issues they are raising mean nothing to him and his survival in office is the only important thing to him.
If you want to see how fake and useless Ruto firing of the cabinet is look at the objectives the president himself says he will achieve with this con job. President Ruto says this will help him deal with debt which makes no sense because the borrowing of money is done by the president himself. Ruto talks of a new cabinet helping him to “raise domestic resources, expanding job opportunities, eliminate wastage and unnecessary duplication.”
Did Ruto talk about how his next cabinet will help reduce the cost of living for Kenyans? He did not because he knows the cost of living will remain high as long as he is the president regardless of who is in his cabinet.
Did the president talk about the new cabinet helping to create job opportunities for the youth and for Kenyan? He did not because that is not a priority for him and Ruto knows the cabinet doesn’t create jobs.
President Ruto accepts that the new cabinet will not end corruption which is supervised from State House by the president himself and will continue in full gear as long as Ruto is the president. Fair enough Mr. President.
The only reason President Ruto has dismissed his cabinet is that he wants to stay in power by all means necessary and he thinks he can find away to dupe Kenyans into thinking that as president now he is doing what is good for the country. Kenyans are not stupid and they know that the only thing that is good for the country are new elections and William Ruto goes home after driving the country into a deep hole. Ruto can continue digging that hole for Kenyans until they throw him out of office.
Mwai Kibaki dissolved his cabinet in 2005 after losing in the referendum for a new constitution which was designed to give Kibaki the imperial presidency he wanted. Kibaki then set a government of national unity working with opposition leaders.
Where did the new Kibaki government take the country? It took Kenya to one of the worst catastrophes ever experienced and seen in our country and that was the 2007/8 massacres with total violence in the country with hundreds of Kenyans killed plus thousands of Kenyans uprooted from their own homes because of their tribes. That is what the Kibaki government of national unity gave our country.
All the tragedy of 2007/8 happened because Kibaki was determined to be the Kenyan president by any means necessary. And that is exactly what we are seeing in Kenya today. Young Kenyans are being killed in the streets with others being abducted and drowned to death but that does not matter to William Ruto.
The president’s crude thinking is that this cabinet dismissal will become the new topic in Kenya and everybody including the Gen Z protestors will just shut up and cheer William bring new thieves to his cabinet with the only change being that the new thieves will include people from opposition parties.
The last thing especially those from human rights movements in Kenya should be involved in is falling to Ruto gimmicks and trying to tell him how to form a new cabinet. Once we do that we are telling Ruto that he can be Kenya’s president as long as he wants and all he needs is to play tricks on the Kenyan people.
I saw a sad statement from a some human rights in the country asking Ruto to have cabinet limit of 14 and little things here and there. It does not matter how many cabinet members Ruto has because the entire government is run by William Ruto himself and he controls everything which is why he is now trying to control the movement for social justice and development Kenya.
William Ruto can appoint the Pope to the cabinet and all the pope will have to do is pray for Ruto and do nothing for Kenyans. And if the Pope does not pray hard enough and the president is still having a hard time with Kenyan protestors the old guy is gone and sent back to the Vatican. Fired.
Ruto’s government is not failing Kenyans because he is being misadvised. President is failing Kenyans because doing what is right for the people of Kenya is not his agenda.
Ruto’s primary motivation for the presidency is to continue accumulating as much wealth as he can and everybody in the Ruto government knows that and they themselves have the same agenda as William Ruto which is to grab everything you can and the Kenyan people can go to hell and when they come back they will find Ruto still at State House. Kenyans are not in trouble because of the Ruto cabinet and they know that because they are in trouble because of President William Ruto.
‘Resign, It’s The Only Honourable Thing To Do,’ Omtatah Speaks On Ruto’s Cabinet Sacking
Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah has reiterated his demand for President William Ruto’s resignation despite the head of state dissolving Cabinet on Thursday as an initial measure to tackle administrative inefficiencies within the Kenya Kwanza government.
Speaking on the Senate floor on Thursday, Omtatah stressed that the shortcomings of the ruling regime should not be attributed solely to the sacked ministers but also President Ruto as well. According to Omtatah, the captain should take responsibility and go down with his ship.
“The Cabinet has been dissolved but that is like putting balm on a wound. What we demand or what I personally think is ready to happen is that the entire Kenya Kwanza administration, led by President Ruto, must vacate power. I am demanding that President Ruto vacate office; it’s the only honourable thing to do.,” said Omtatah.
“Everything around him (Ruto) has collapsed. So you cannot say that his juniors should bear the burden. The ball stops with him and the call that President Ruto must go is a call that must be applied and as they say a fish begins rotting from the head.”
“The call that Ruto must go is not an idle call; it is a call whose time has come. Mr. Ruto told us that criminals were on the streets; he has not produced a single criminal and we cannot be told lies every day. Justice is crying out, our children have died and this is something that has never happened in Kenya,” said Omtatah.
“The president has called them criminals and he cannot continue sitting in power when children have died and he said “we’ll do anything at whatever cost” when the constitution says you can’t do anything at whatever cost.”
“My call is to associate my voice with people who are saying that the President vacate office. There is no room for all we are doing here; let’s start off on a new slate. Anything less than that will not avenge the blood that has been spilled.
So what are the next options?
There is a hot speculation that William Ruto will form a government of national unity with Raila Odinga. That is lazy stuff. First of all even though he is still the ODM and Azimio Coalition leader, at the moment Raila Odinga is a civilian. How will Ruto bring Raila to his government? Make him the chief advisor replacing David Ndii or appoint him to the cabinet? Kenyans know Raila Odinga very well and he is not a stupid man or a reckless politician.
If it comes to a point where William Ruto just wants to rope in Raila in some fake government of national unity so that Ruto keeps his job of sending Kenyans to the trash bin we can rest assured that Raila will not accept anything like that. Raila has been fighting for freedom of Kenyans for 40 years and he is not going to be involved in any garbage for William Ruto. Without people like Raila we wouldn’t even have multi-party in Kenya and that is not the kind of a person who would make himself a handkerchief for Ruto to wipe his sins against Kenyans.
In fact this whole government of national unity idea could backfire big time on President Ruto and turn our to be the last nail in Ruto’s political coffin. There is no panya route for Ruto trying to dodge his responsibilities of KK government for two years.
If political parties like ODM and Wiper basically say that any of their members who take cabinet jobs in the new Ruto regime will be expelled from the party and can work with Ruto as the new KK members things could fall apart very quickly.
Ruto wants his firing of the cabinet he appointed to be the only conversation in Kenya and those damn Gen Z protestors can go to hell. That is not going to happen because Kenyans have crossed that bridge already. Opposition leaders know that if they allow Ruto to use them so as to avoid dealing with government murder and abuse of young Kenyans and also to help Kenyans forget about the cost of living they will be in a dangerous dream land and then they will be abandoned by Kenyans and move to Sugoi with Ruto pretty soon.
Next it is for Kenyans to figure out what to do with Ruto’s proposed National Multi-Sectoral Forum. I have heard some people including a human rights group like KHRC declare that there is no need for NMSF. What option do such groups offer in terms of setting up the political agenda in Kenya going forward? So far nothing. If the NMSF was to totally collapse and the meeting does not take place from Monday July 15, 2024 that would be the greatest gift to William Ruto.
If nothing is happening for NMSF and people are not bringing any suggestions on where the country goes from here President Ruto would laugh all day at State House because he will tell Kenyans that he offered a forum which was supposed to consist of 150 participants and some people sabotaged that and now he is just going to concentrate on juggling his cabinet and wait for 2027. Is that really what Kenyans want right now?
In terms of NMSF agenda the first item has to be to formulate a process where there will be complete accountability for Gen Z protestors killed, abducted and injured by Kenya police in the last three weeks.
That cannot be done at the NMSF but they can establish a credible national committee to enable the victims of Ruto violence, their families and colleagues as well as human rights activists to speak to Kenyans directly with the objective of finding solutions for that tragedy including compensation for the victims and sending the police who killed protestors to jail where they belong.
If such a resolution is passed at the NMSF it will be binding to President Ruto and Kenyans will see an independent public inquiry to deal with all the issues of Kenyans killed, maimed and abducted Gen Z protestors. That would be a good step one for that six day meeting starting Monday July 15, 2024 to Saturday July 20, 2024.
Right now the NMSF should demand that the president provides a full list of those killed and abducted by the police. That is about peoples lives and their families. It is not about politics of any kind.
These Kenyan families need justice and peace.
These Kenyans in grief from state sponsored violence have to be listened to by the whole country and not just washed aside because Ruto wants Kenyans to only talk about him and his new cabinet.
The second agenda for the NMSF should be to come with practical plans to address the issue of corruption and waste of public money which is making life impossible for citizens. Kenyans must reject the Ruto falsehood that now that he fired the cabinet corruption is gone and nobody should worry. First of all Kenyans know big corruption starts at State House and nothing there has changed.
Let NMSF set up a plan to do complete audit of all the 47 county governments to find out what they do with the billions they get every year starting in 2010. That audit would be carried out by the Auditor General and let the auditor tell the government what resources their office need in terms of hiring workers to make that happen.
People may not know but one of the biggest problems in the Auditor General’s office which Ruto government loves is that they have very limited staff and can do very little audit work which they are required to do. Let the NMSF fix that and make a workable resolution.
That same national audit from the AG office should be extended to every single constituency in Kenya to find out what our MPs have been doing with NG CDF money. We know the MPs pretend they pay bursaries but do they even have any records of who they paid the bursaries for and in which schools. Where are the bank records from both sides.
Unless the billions of tax money given to counties and MPs are accounted for, there is no hope for Kenyans to progress in life because that is part of the money meant to create jobs and development in every area in Kenya.
Here is an example of how governors just put taxpayers money for their counties in their pockets and pretend they have developed big things for their counties.
Gen Z activists online have already asked that all the fired CSs from the Ruto government be audited immediately before they take all the money to Dubai. Start with Kipchumba Murkomen, please.
This is Baringo County stadium which cost Sh. 900 million
Hey, Benjamin Cheboi, come out you corrupt Governor
I saw a picture of a stadium built in Baringo County where the government provided Sh. 900 million and the stadium is a grassless pitch with kids playing stuck in dust. That is how the governor there spent close to Sh. 1 billion.
That could have been a huge investment to employ hundreds of youth to build a magnificent stadium which would have sports activities, eateries and other economic activities that would enhance the economy of the county. But Governor Cheboi ate all that money. That has been the plan since devolution started in 2010. Eat it all and you know you are safe. Just eat with the big Kahunas.
How many of these Baringo financial atrocities are out there at the county level by governors and at constituency level by MPs. There are hundreds of this kind of stolen money all over the country and it is time to unearth all that and move the country where both county and NG CDF money is actually used for the benefit of the citizens and not for the politicians.
The third thing the NMSF can do for the youth of Kenya is have a resolution on voter registration starting very quickly.
Right now the IEBC 2024 laws have been put in place and the next thing is to appoint the commissioners and Kenyans know how that is always manipulated by those in power. One thing that could be sorted out right this time to avoid the endless election riggings is to make sure the appointments for IEBC commissioners is done in a fair and professional way with all political parties involved including Gen Z representatives.
Very registration in Kenya is how the rigging of elections starts. One of the things the government controlled IEBC would do is give Kenyans less than one month to register as voters. There is no time and nobody goes there and that is exactly what the government wants. Also the method of voter registration has to be agreed on.
Kenya Introduces Biometrics for Voter Registration
In real terms Kenyans should have access to voter registration centers throughout the year and iEBC proposed that at some time but if that is not workable then Kenya needs to have three to six months every year to register as voters before any general elections.
For now after the meeting at the National Multi-Sector Forum (NMSF) with the Gen Z with President Ruto and Raila the whole team need to agree that a voter registration be started as soon as IEBC appointments are done. Let Kenya have three months of voter registration and by December 2024 Kenya will be ready for elections.
If that is achieved at the NMSF meetings Kenya will be telling the youth that with the voter card they have in their hands they will determine who will be their presidents and who will be their MPs. That could be the biggest achievement at this point by the Kenyan youth that will ensure real opportunities will henceforth exist for them to help run their country by voting.
Improving youth participation in political and civic life will be focused on helping civil society they promote a peaceful election cycle.
My conclusion is that if Kenyans don’t take advantage of the NMSF then Ruto will have the whole agenda for the country in his hands and he will do everything that is good for him and forget about the country.
With the NMSF having those six day meetings they will set the agenda which will be binding to President Ruto and the Gen Z demos will go on anyway and keep setting new agenda as the country moves to the next phase of development for our country.
The one thing all Kenyans know for sure is that none of the politicians from President Ruto to Raila Odinga and others knows where attempts at keeping William Ruto in office will end.
But for Kenyans wherever it ends must be for the good of Kenyans and for the good of the country. On that, there are no options.
