KRA Unveils New Eastleigh Branch in Bold Push to Boost Tax Compliance and Business Partnerships

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced the opening of a new branch in Eastleigh, Nairobi County, as part of a strategic initiative to improve service delivery and fortify relationships with business communities.

The Authority’s broader goal of decentralizing its operations and bringing tax services closer to Kenya’s diversified and expanding taxpayer base includes this development.

The announcement was made on Thursday, August 7, during a high-level engagement between the KRA Board and the Eastleigh Business District Association (EBDA).

KRA Board Chairman Ndiritu Muriithi emphasized that the new office is designed to foster collaboration and build lasting relationships with business players in one of the country’s most vibrant commercial hubs.

“Tax is a necessity for any nation as it fuels and finances the State. At KRA, we are committed to making it easier and simpler for taxpayers to comply. Eastleigh’s contribution to the economy is invaluable, and we are determined to support your continued growth through structured, responsive, and respectful engagement,” Muriithi said.

Mohamed Mero, CEO of EBDA, lauded the initiative, underscoring the importance of mutual understanding between KRA and business stakeholders. “KRA is a critical partner for our Association. We are keen to work together through continuous dialogue, tax education forums, and advocacy for practical tax incentives,” he noted.

Mandera County Deputy Governor Ali Maalim Mohamud also attended the event and called for reforms in tax policy to foster a more enabling business environment.

The new Eastleigh branch joins a growing list of recently operationalised KRA offices including those in Malaba, Siaya, Lodwar, and Homabay, among others. These expansions are part of KRA’s 2024/2025 modernisation drive, which also includes technology investment, capacity building, and stakeholder engagement frameworks.

As KRA continues to streamline its services, the Eastleigh branch represents not just administrative growth but a renewed commitment to inclusive economic development and taxpayer-centric governance.
