Headache in ANC over Raila’s new strategy to lock Western

2 mins read

Despite assuring his supporters and voters in Western Kenya that he has the region’s votes firmly locked under his grip, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi is said to be having sleepless nights, over Raila Odinga’s latest plot to have the Luhyia vote.

This revelation is coming just a few days after Mr. Odinga met Governors Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega), Wilberforce Ottichilo (Vihiga), Wycliffe Wangamati (Bungoma), and Sospeter Ojaamong (Busia) in Nairobi.

The ANC leader’s worries stem from the fact that the four Western counties’ governors have exemplarily performed in their various counties and are hugely popular with the electorates.

Speaking to a local publication on Wednesday, Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya revealed they are embarking on massive groundwork and grassroots mobilization for Raila Odinga’s 2022 bid.

”From next week, the country will see the activities we will be rolling out in a bid to strengthen ODM,” the ODM deputy leader said.

In the new ODM arithmetic, the four governors will go full throttle in popularising Raila Odinga’s 2022 candidature in their respective counties. A number of MPs from the vote-rich region have been identified for this mission expected to kick off towards the end of next week.

Currently, notable names in the team, which will also be reinforced by other legislators from the region are Woman Rep Florence Mutua (Busia), MPs Justus Kizito (Shinyalu), Raphael Wanjala (Budalang’i), Joseph Oyula (Butula), Wilberforce Oundo (Funyula), Geoffrey Odanga (Matayos), Caleb Amisi (Saboti), nominated MP Geoffrey Osotsi, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna and former Funyula MP Paul Otuoma.
