CCTV footage has surfaced showing the final moments of slain lawyer Kyalo Mbobu, shedding light on how his killers may have trailed him from his Nairobi office to Magadi Road, where he was fatally shot.
The footage, recorded on Tuesday, captures Mbobu’s routine from early morning until his last hours. At around 6:35 a.m., he was seen arriving at Town House along Kaunda Street, dressed in a suit and red tie. After checking in, he collected newspapers from security officers at the entrance before proceeding to his ninth-floor office.
At around 10 a.m., Mbobu was filmed leaving his office briefly, engaging in a short conversation with a woman in the corridor, before returning. Later, at 5:14 p.m., the footage shows him leaving his office again, using the elevator to the ground floor. Another man was captured exiting the same lift moments later.
Outside the building, a man dressed in black and carrying a backpack was spotted making a phone call. The unidentified man abruptly ended his call as Mbobu walked past and was then seen heading in the same direction.
Colleagues described Mbobu as calm and focused throughout the day. “He met a client, attended a meeting around noon, and returned to continue working until the evening,” one colleague recalled.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have since zeroed in on the unidentified man captured outside Mbobu’s office. Additional CCTV footage traced Mbobu’s journey through Wabera Street, Parliament Road, Lang’ata Road, and finally to Magadi Road, where he was ambushed and killed.
DCI officers have already identified two individuals linked to the case, believed to be among those who interacted with the lawyer shortly before his death. Investigations into the murder are ongoing.
