Kalonzo heads to Orengo’s Siaya after Azimio rebrand
Kalonzo Musyoka is going through a tough time right now. He knows he is the top candidate for the United Opposition team if they ever really pick up one candidate.
Kalonzo knows there is growing competition for that opposition ticket and nothing else speaks louder about that than the rise of Edwin Sifuna as one of those top candidates taking on President William Ruto for the top seat on August 10, 2027.
Could Edwin Sifuna be Kalonzo’s Deputy President candidate in 2027 like some people really want?
First of all is Sifuna willing to take a DP position after he gets that political party to be a presidential candidate himelf?
How about Rigathi Gachagua the obvious God of the United Opposition group who are not even members of Kalonzo’s new Ukombozi Alliance?
Is Gachagua going to say okay, I can take Kalonzo and a Luhya guy to run for the opposition presidential ticket and none of his own blood in there?
What happens to Edwin Sifuna if the United Opposition does not nominate him for the presidential nor the DP position? Does he give up and try to keep his senator job in Nairobi or does he run for the presidency on his own?
Those are honest questions and issues that the opposition are going to have to deal with and time is kind of running out. Good luck with that for them.
And then Kalonzo mourning about the DP with Raila is just not necessary. Leave Raila and just deal what Kenyans face today to make a living.
‘It was very painful’: Kalonzo recalls 2022 Raila running mate interview
“My supporters felt sorry for me. They said, ‘You fool, how?’ They got angry,” he said.
Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka has recalled what he described as a painful experience of being interviewed to become the late Raila Odinga’s running mate in the 2022 General Election.
Kalonzo said the experience was difficult because he had twice served as Raila’s running mate without being subjected to an interview process.
Speaking at Mama Pauline Kalonzo Girls High School in Kyuso, Kitui County, on Wednesday, Kalonzo said he had accepted the interview despite the concerns of his supporters.
“It was very painful. When we were running together, Raila and I, in 2013 and 2017, he did not interview me. In 2022, he told me Kalonzo should do an interview, and I accepted and went,” he said.
Kalonzo said his supporters were unhappy with his decision to participate in the process and felt he had subjected himself to unnecessary humiliation.
“My supporters felt sorry for me. They said, ‘You fool, how?’ They got angry. I told them, patience brings good things,” he said.
He used the experience to urge students at the school to embrace humility, patience and restraint, saying disagreement or being treated unfairly should not automatically lead to confrontation.
“So show humility, and that is a value I want to pass to this school because this is the type of value I want to pass in this group and every person associated with my type of leadership. Do not show pride. There is a God in heaven,” Kalonzo said.
He added that choosing patience should not be mistaken for weakness.
“In the Old Testament, there is a scripture on if they slap your left cheek, you give them the right one, but it does not mean you are a fool,” he said.
Kalonzo was speaking after he handed over a new school bus to Mama Pauline Kalonzo Girls High School in Kyuso, an institution named after his wife, Pauline Kalonzo.
The bus handover was part of his continued involvement with the school and his emphasis on education. During the ceremony, Kalonzo said the vehicle would give students opportunities beyond the classroom.
“This bus is more than a means of transport. It will open up opportunities for our girls: to learn, to compete, to explore and to participate in activities beyond the classroom,” he said.
In a post about the handover, Kalonzo said education remained close to his heart and described investment in education as an investment in the future of children and the country.
He said the bus would help the girls participate in learning, competitions and other activities beyond the classroom.
Here is my plea to my friends and all those great folks down there starting with Bondo Town (where I grew up), give Kalonzo Musyoka a rousing welcome when he comes down there because he deserves it as a national leader who has stood up for the nation when the country needed that leadership.
I was born in Bondo some century ago, but I am going to make it less because only my mother knows my birthday and she is not around to whisper that to anybody. And even my mother about my birthday, she used to guess it by how the weather was when I was born. I guess we were born in open air space. How grand. And our mothers managed to hang on to us and give us life.
My mother’s church had a paper with my name and a birthday for us to give to the ID office when I needed a national ID. But I grew up in Bondo with my six sisters. Our mother was the disciplinarian at home for all of us. My mother’s law was going to school and keeping the house clean. There were so many of us there so messing it wasn’t going to work.
Bondo Town is now a modern city growing to new heights every single minute.
Ruto, Oburu open Siaya Community Digital Hub in Bondo

My father was more generous with us in terms of discipline. When we were in trouble our father would make us put cow dung under his mangoe trees as the discipline work and that guy had those mangoe trees everywhere in our home and now it is a forest of gigantic mangoe trees and the young ones love them and climb to the top before they come down to eat the fruits they harvest from up there.
As for going to school that was the most important thing to our mother apart from her Bible which she kept with her all the time. You mess with school my mother was going to whip your ass and then give you other work to do like go fetch water from Miruka pond next to our home as part of the punishment.
For me fetching water from Miruka was impossible. My sisters told our mum that I have no idea how to carry anything on my head and the water tin will just be falling down all over me. My mum told them that is my problem and they figured it out for me.
So Bondo Town is my blood and it is an exploding town for those who know what is going in there. In fact, I can proudly tell every Kenyan that Bondo Town right now is one of the best places to invest in anything from food production and processing, bakeries, building furniture for schools and private use as well as building first class restaurants and hotels. All that is happening as we speak.
To start with here is ACK Synod Plaza in Bondo town built by the ACK church which has owned the plot since Bondo became a small town way back. That church block is right at the heart of Bondo town. Down next to it is the Bondo Police Station and on the other side are offices and living places for administrative authorities in Bondo.
Today the ACK plaza is at the heart of an emerging Bondo town just booming in every sector of the economy and local business people are growing in all directions.
It was very encouraging to see President Ruto and ODM leader Dr. Oburu Oginga opening the Digital Hub Centre in Bondo town for the residents. This is a town where majority of the population are young people and they have to navigate their future by themselves and they need the resources and facilities to do so which is the job of their government to help them.
The launch at Bondo Town marks another step in the government’s push to expand digital infrastructure and support technology-driven development in counties across the country.
The biggest transformation of Bondo town started when Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) came to life in the town in 2009.
In just 17 years JOOUST has changed the town beyond belief and brought new hopes and aspirations in the area. The growth in the town for housing needs for these young people is helping those who are in that line of business and it is good for the town.
Bondo has a young and energetic population growing with their town. It doesn’t get better than that to build community centres able to cater for the needs of the population of young Kenyans.
In Bondo Town take Kalonzo Musyoka to Jaramogi Park in the heart of the town and he will meet all Bondo folks there. That place used to be the biggest market in Bondo Town when I was a young kid and my mother had a stall there and obviously that was a century ago.
My point is that Siaya and Bondo people should do what happened in Nairobi a week ago with opposition group Linda Mwanainchi having peaceful rallies across the city with no problems.
Now it is Siaya time to do that. It will be good.
