A few days ago some of us were urging Pauline Njoroge, Edwin Sifuna fellow leader in their new group not to tell Kenyans that Sifuna has been chosen by God to lead them to glory because as we all know, God does not vote and has no voting card in Jamhuri. Kenyans do all that by themselves. I mean the voting.
Well guess what, Sifuna and his team have finally met the real God on the ground who will define where Sifuna fits in the United Opposition team.
This is a living walking God Edwin Sifuna has to deal with for all his political hopes at the moment. His name is Almighty Geoffrey Rigathi Gachagua for the United Opposition in Kenya.
In the news today, Rigathi Gachagua urged leaders allied to the Linda Mwananchi movement to unite, dismissing claims that their political alliance is driven by tribal interests.
Gachagua said the group shared a common purpose and should not allow political differences or accusations of tribalism to undermine its efforts to challenge the government.
“I want us to be together. We are one team, and we mean well for the country,” he said.
“We are very simple people, but some others are branding us as tribal. Let no one tell us we are tribal. I am not tribal.”
Gachagua made the remarks when he hosted a delegation of Linda Mwananchi leaders at his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri County on Tuesday.
Gachagua defended his political choices, citing his support for President William Ruto during the 2022 General Election as evidence that he was not guided by ethnicity.
“When we supported William, he was not Kamau, he was not Njoroge, he was a Kalenjin, he was Kipchirchir,” he said.
The first big nightmare for Edwin Sifuna is that someone like Cleophas Malala who organized his meeting with Gachagua want Sifuna to be swallowed by Gachagua so that Sifuna’s new emerging group become just a piece of the Gachagua entourage in the opposition. Malala needs that for himself because if Sifuna is in the presidential ticket he has a good chance to win some seat in Western Kenya himself.
The problem with Gachagua swallowing the Sifuna group is not just bad for the Linda team but it could really annoy Kalonzo Musyoka who has been Gachagua’s door boy for years since his impeachment and now all of a sudden he is going to be sidelined and Sifuna takes his place.
These kinds of moves would force Kalonzo to go on his own to face William Ruto and bring his so called Ukombozi Alliance to the forefront.

The other real bad problem for Kalonzo Musyoka is that his Ukombozi Alliance is itself practically dead because Gachagua’s DCP refused to join it and Kalonzo grabbed on someone like James Orengo as the group leader and they had a series of good rallies in Siaya County.
The next set of rallies for Ukombozi Alliance in Mombasa failed miserably and it was reduced to Kalonzo and Nyali MP Mohamed Ali hanging around by themselves in Mombasa.

So the one line of fire for a Gachagua alliance with Sifuna and his Linda Mwananchi is that it could force a major rift in the opposition with Kalonzo running away and nobody knows what Martha Karua and Fred Matiang’i would do if they are thrown into the opposition dustbin by Gachagua in some alliance with Sifuna.
If Kalonzo is forced out because of a Gachagua and Sifuna alliance, he could opt to go with Fred Matiang’i as his DP and try to generate an alliance between his Wiper Party and Jubilee to bring Uhuru in for the Mt. Kenya votes. Alternatively Kalonzo could pick Ndindi Nyoro as his DP and try to bring the People Party of Kenya (PPK) into his column for the opposition.
The other real line of fire for Gachagua swallowing Sifuna is that the Gachagua votes of the 6 million Kikuyu voters he keeps talking about as the kingpin of him owning the opposition are soon going to be asking him who is their candidate in the opposition presidential ticket.
That demand from Gachagua tribal supporters is going to get more intense in the next few months as it becomes obvious that Gachagua cannot vie for the presidency in 2027 or any other seat because of his impeachment.

Edwin Sifuna, Methu and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua during a meeting with the Linda Mwananchi team at Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri County on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.
So can Gachagua actually hold Edwin Sifuna’s hands and tell his “voters” that this is his guy for the 2027 presidential ticket or the DP? If not, what happens next to the opposition and to the Sifuna Linda Mwananchi team?
Can Edwin Sifuna run for the presidency with Gachagua’s top honcho John Methu as his DP? That would end up with Kalonzo Musyoka and other opposition leaders running their own candidates against William Ruto.
How many opposition presidential candidates will all the ogling and giggling for one opposition candidate lead to when reality strikes home in August 2027?
