Raila Odinga Junior is stepping into the public spotlight, with his latest visit to his late father’s Opoda Farm in Bondo, Siaya County, coming amid growing interest in his reported plans to contest the Kibra parliamentary seat.
Junior was seen inspecting the family property and engaging workers, offering a glimpse of his involvement in managing the estate left behind by one of Kenya’s most influential political figures.
As the Odinga family navigates life after Raila Odinga’s death, Junior’s growing visibility suggests he intends to build a political career in his own right.
Kibra, a constituency long associated with the Odinga family’s political influence and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), would offer Junior a natural entry point into elective politics.
The constituency has historically been an important political base for the Odinga family, making any potential bid by Junior likely to attract considerable attention within ODM and among Nairobi voters.
His appearance at Opoda Farm also offered Kenyans a reminder of the personal legacy left by his father.
Among the sights attracting attention were two camels gifted to Raila during his Azimio la Umoja campaign tour of Northern Kenya. Local leaders and residents in Garissa presented the animals to the former Prime Minister, with one specifically designated for his daughter, Winnie Odinga.
The camels were subsequently transported to Opoda Farm in a journey that reportedly took about a week.
Junior has also reportedly revamped his late father’s Hummer, another detail that has attracted public interest as he becomes more visible in the affairs of the family
