The Linda Mwananchi faction on Sunday, April 26, 2026, stormed Kisumu city in a dramatic show of political might, defying earlier threats by a section of broadbased government aligned leaders from Nyanza who had vowed to block the rally from taking place.
According to footage circulating online, the group made a grand entry into the lakeside city under heavy escort of supporters before attending a church service in Nyalenda, Babu Owino’s backyard where he grew up.
They later proceeded to KaOwuor Grounds, where a major rally was scheduled to take place.
The Linda Mwananchi brigade tour of Kisumu is led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Siaya Governor James Orengo, and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.
The leaders are accompanied by a large crowd of supporters, activists, and local leaders who thronged have the streets chanting ant-Ruto slogans.
Governor Orengo, speaking ahead of the event, had warned against any attempts to incite violence or disrupt the rally.
The rally’s huge turn out has sent political shockwaves in Kisumu.
