ODM Party supporters are nowadays shocked to see demos in places like Mlolongo, Machakos, Mtito Andei, Wote, Kathonzweni, Mwingi etc.
Kalonzo/Wiper always joy-rode on ODM/Raila organized rallies/protests but never organized rallies/protests in his Wiper backyard; the result being that demos followed only ODM bases and Nairobi CBD (Ground Zero).
Kalonzo/Wiper in their 15 years of alliance with Raila/ODM never did any HEAVY LIFTING. Even during Presidential campaigns, Kalonzo would be given a schedule of rallies across the country, assigned his choppers and vehicles. He was mostly a “passenger princess”.
For much of the past 15 years, Wakamba were always “sofa set protesters”. They supported the protests in principle, but only their leaders showed up — and mostly it was Mbui, Wavinya, Mawathe and Kalonzo. The rest of their leaders and population cozied in their sofa sets and watched the “action” on TV.
What’s good for the goose should be good for the gander.
ODM supporters should support the protests in principle but adopt a “sofa set” approach to action. Popcorns and your phone, then tune into citizen nipashe…
As for Gachagua/DCP, after 20 years during which the Kikuyu deluded themselves that they’d be in power FOREVER and worked mostly to trounce, kill, hollow and sabotage protests, they find themselves having to deal with the TRAPS (mitego) they erected for the last 20 years (2002-2022).
The back-to-back presidencies of Mwai Kibaki and Uhuru Kenyatta cushioned KIKUYUS from atrocities of government that they thought they’d never need to protest again. They mocked protesters. They laughed at protesters. They jeered. They cheered the police as it violently descended on protesters.
But Mungu si Kamau. Hayawiiii hayawiiii, uwa!
To ODM Party supporters; keep away from anything that smells Gachagua.
