Gachagua hits out as US reconsiders Kenya’s Non-NATO ally status
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has launched a scathing attack on the government following a decision by the US Congress to initiate a high-level review of Kenya’s designation as a major non-NATO ally.
The review is part of Bill sponsored by U.S. Senator James Risch, Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, aimed at reassessing the status granted to Kenya in June 2024.Gachagua warned that Kenya risks international isolation over its alleged harbouring of individuals and entities under US sanctions, some of whom have suspected links to extremist groups.
If Rigathi Gachagua wants to be an immigrant in the US and work for Donald Trump as a toilet cleaner at his Mara Lago hotel he better check on the USA immigration policies under President Trump.
The US government does not want some immigrants down there and President Trump is having the citizenship revoked from immigrants whom he does not like. That matter is before the US courts but Trump has no regard at all for US justice system.
We know Gachagua is desperate to be taken seriously as presidential candidate in Kenya but the last thing he can do to get anywhere in that battle is to abuse his own country and support those who want to trash not only Kenya but other African countries because Trump is mad that those countries are working closely with China. The whole world knows that Trump considers China as an emerging super power in the global arena both economically and with regards to its military capacities, and for that he hates any country having good relations with China. That is a problem Trump has to deal with himself.
Kenya and indeed any other African country are free to work with any country they choose and the US must never be given the powers to impose on our countries what their foreign relations should be to make Trump happy.
US Senator protests Kenya’s bid for new world order backed by China

NAIROBI, Kenya, May 15 — US Senator Jim Risch, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has called for a reassessment of the United States’ relationship with Kenya following President William Ruto’s recent remarks in Beijing.
Senator Risch expressed concern over Kenya’s deepening ties with China, particularly in light of Ruto’s declaration that Kenya and China are “co-architects of a new world order”
Speaking during a Senate hearing, Senator Risch expressed concern over Kenya’s deepening ties with China, particularly in light of Ruto’s declaration that Kenya and China are co-architects of a new world order.”
Risch emphasized that such statements suggest a significant shift in Kenya’s foreign policy orientation, potentially undermining its longstanding partnership with the United States.
He warned that relying on leaders who openly embrace Beijing could be detrimental to US interests in the region.
“Relying on leaders who embrace Beijing so openly is an error. It’s time to reassess our relationship with Kenya and others who forge tight bonds with China,” Risch added.
President Ruto’s visit to China in April resulted in several trade and investment agreements, including deals in agriculture, technology, and green energy.
‘Broken world order’
During his speech at Peking University, Ruto criticized the current global power structures, describing them as “broken” and “dysfunctional,” and advocated for a new, fair, and inclusive world order.
Senator Risch urged the US to pivot its Africa policy away from individual leaders and towards strengthening institutions, expanding private sector ties, and empowering the region’s youth.
He stressed the importance of being clear-eyed about potential and existing partners in the region, noting that in many cases, these governments are not wholly legitimate, raising questions about the worthiness of engagement.
The Senator’s remarks highlight growing concerns in Washington over China’s expanding influence in Africa and the implications for US strategic interests.
Kenya has in the past insisted it neither leans West nor East, defending a foreign policy stance adopted during President Kibaki’s era that balances between fostering relationships with both Eastern and Western powers.
Gachagua in his statement went on to insult Kenya while bending his knees for the likes of Senator Jim Risch by claiming that Kenya is working with global terrorist groups like Al -Shabaab which has been killing Kenyan security officers fighting to keep our country safe. Who exactly is Gachagua working for when he makes such offensive and dangerous statements about his own country?
“We warned you about Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces and Al-Shabaab. We asked you to keep international criminals and foreign terrorist organizations out of Kenya,” Gachagua said in a statement on Tuesday.
He accused the government of turning Kenya into a financial safe haven for individuals listed by the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and faulted Kenya’s decision to host meetings involving Sudan’s rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) earlier this year.
Those meetings, held in Nairobi, led to the announcement of a parallel government—prompting condemnation from Khartoum, which said Kenya had violated Sudan’s sovereignty and principles of non-interference.
Gachagua also raised concerns over the misuse of intelligence and military assistance provided by the United States, warning that it may be enabling serious violations of human rights.
He cited a rise in reports of forced disappearances, illegal detentions, and police brutality under the current regime, accusing security agencies of excessive force and abuse of power.“
“The Kenyan people have called for an end to extrajudicial killings, state-sponsored militia, abductions, and widespread human rights violations,” he added.
To continue with his incitement against Kenya, Gachagua jumps to his usual complains when Kenya police arrest people sponsored by him to burn down businesses like supermarkets, loot everything from peoples business supplies reducing the owners to abject poverty, destroying state buildings and pretending to be peaceful demonstrators.
“There is growing concern that the Government of Kenya is using U.S. security support to abduct, torture, and commit violence against civilians,” Gachagua claimed.
What will Gachagua tell people even in his town of Nyeri whose businesses were burnt to the ground by his thugs or is he okay with their losses and suffering because those causing the mayhem and burning of shops are his supporters.
The U.S. is said to be closely monitoring Kenya’s commitment to counterterrorism efforts and its human rights record—key pillars in the strategic military partnership.
Gachagua also called on Kenyans living in the United States to engage with their elected leaders in the US and provide firsthand accounts of the situation back home.
“I urge Kenyans in the diaspora to speak up—reach out to your senators and share the truth about what’s happening in our beloved nation,” he said. He warned that failure to address the growing concerns could jeopardize Kenya’s critical strategic partnerships with the United States and the broader international community.
Gachagua is actually calling on Kenyans in the US to talk to American senators to fight their own country so as to assist him get somewhere with his delusional hopes to lead the country. Kenyans living in diaspora are not idiots to be attacking their own country because that is home to them. Gachagua can do that all by himself.
And talking about countries that are supporting terrorist activities across the globe does Gachagua know that President Donald Trump is now one of the lone leaders in the world supporting the Israeli genocide in Gaza leading to mass deaths of Palestinians mostly children dying from starvation after Israel with American bombs have turned all of Gaza into a graveyard. Maybe Gachagua does even know a place called Gaza.
The last piece of lecture the world needs to hear is President Trump talking about peace and accusing other countries of abusing human rights anywhere in the world.
At this frightening time in human history while other key leaders everywhere in countries like the UK, France, Canada are speaking very clearly against the massacres of children in Gaza from Israeli endless military operations for two years running and death from starvation, Donald Trump and the US is the big ally and supporter of what is happening in Gaza as the whole world watches in horror and disbelief.
At least 66 children dead of malnutrition in Gaza amid Israel’s war
UNICEF says the number of malnourished children in the Gaza Strip is rising at an ‘alarming rate’.

Gaza city under attack: Consecutive strikes kill at least 20 Palestinians

(L-R) France’s President Emmanuel Macron, Britain’s Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney all call for end of the war in Gaza and support a Palestinian State.

Something pretty shocking is unfolding in front of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israeli government which probably is unimaginable to them at this time.
The Israeli excessive abuse of Palestinians in Gaza which now amounts to horrific crimes against humanity was meant to wipe out not just Gaza and those who live there but to put an end to any hopes for the two state solution which is always promised but never realized.
“Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process they do not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into the abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you“
Friedrich Nietzsche
What Nietzsche talking about what is happening to Israel right now?
What Israel faces at this moment is that as a result of the globally frightening activities by Israeli government to actively exterminate Palestinians in Gaza while the whole world watches in utter disbelief and now growing resentment many countries in the western world on whom Israel has relied upon to continue its occupation of Palestinian territories and people are now saying enough is enough.
The cruelty of the Israeli government’s active annihilation of Palestinian people in Gaza is visible and unbearable and Israel is now being held responsible. Israel talks about fighting those who seek to terminate them while they are terminating people in Gaza with complete ruthlessness right in front of the whole world and expect the entire world to just shut up about that. It is not happening and it should not for the sake of humanity.
There is an element of shock and horror as the international communities witnesses some of the ugliest forms of human degradation which has now led to mass starvation and deaths while the Israeli army continues to still bomb the dying Palestinians including children. Sometimes it looks like the Israeli government wants to even bomb dead bodies or those half dead children starving to death just to be sure they are dead.
It is hard for any living human being and first of all leaders in the countries that have supported Israel for close to a hundred years to look at what is happening in Gaza and still ignore it. That is simply not humanly possible. That is the message those countries are sending to the Israeli government and they better listen and act accordingly.
Where does Donald Trump and the US stand on the global humanitarian demands to end the ongoing human catastrophe in Gaza? Not so long ago in the midst of Israeli terror in Gaza, President Trump told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he wants the Palestinians in Gaza expelled so he can build a huge Mara Lago hotel in Gaza. If that is Gachagua’s global hero he need to keep that to himself.
In any event American politics is smoking hot right now and Gachagua is welcome to join them. They will be very glad to have him.
‘How much does it cost for fascism?’: Tensions erupt at Nebraska GOP congressman’s town hall

Rep. Mike Flood faced a barrage of criticism at a packed town hall in Lincoln, Nebraska, Monday evening as audience members repeatedly confronted him over his support for President Donald Trump’s “big, beautiful bill,” immigration policy and what they described as threats to democracy.
It didn’t take long for those gathered for the meeting at the University of Nebraska to erupt in chants of “tax the rich,” while the Republican congressman attempted to defend his decision to vote for the the president’s massive agenda.
But as he did earlier this year, Flood met a largely hostile crowd. The congressman was pressed on everything from the president’s sweeping tax and spending cuts legislation to veterans’ issues, Medicaid funding and the war in Gaza during a wide-ranging question-and-answer period – all against a backdrop of near-constant heckling, chants and booing from the audience.
Republican faces raucous crowd
In one tense back-and-forth in Nebraska, an audience member confronted Flood about government spending and authoritarianism.
“My question is fiscal,” the attendee began, referencing reports that the makeshift immigration detention facility in Florida dubbed “Alligator Alcatraz” is expected to cost $450 million to operate for a single year.
“How much does it cost for fascism? How much do the taxpayers have to pay for a fascist country?” the attendee asked, as the crowd erupted in applause.
“Americans voted for a border that is secure, and I support the president enforcing our immigration laws, which, by the way, were written by Congress.”
The audience appeared to grow increasingly agitated, with continued shouts hurled at the congressman.
Another member from the audience accused Flood of staying silent in the face of what they called a “fascist machine,” referring to the conservative blueprint Project 2025. “You said in Seward that you were not a fascist,” the person said. “But your complicity says otherwise.”
“Fascists don’t hold town halls with open question-and-answer series,” he responded. The audience again booed.
Despite his efforts to present the recently passed budget bill – which one constituent called “the big, ugly bill” – as a solution for Medicaid funding and rural hospitals, audience members attacked Flood over cuts to SNAP benefits, veterans’ programs and health care access.
Veterans in the audience criticized him for backing a law they said threatens benefits for those who served. “How can you stand a bill that erodes the very services that people like me, my family, and younger vets rely on?” one Marine Corps veteran asked.
Koech: Kenya wants partnership not pressure from US

Nelson Koech, chairperson of Defence, Foreign Affairs and Intelligence Committee, has issued a direct rebuttal to United States Senator Jim Risch over concerns about Kenya’s relationship with China, saying the country seeks partnership, not pressure.
Senator Risch, who chairs the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, questioned Kenya’s loyalty during a hearing on May 13, referring to President William Ruto’s statement that Kenya and China are “co architects of a new world order.”
“We must stop building US policy in Africa around individual leaders and instead focus on strengthening institutions, expanding private sector ties and empowering the region’s young populations,” Risch said during the hearing.
“That is not just alignment with China, it is an allegiance. Relying on leaders who embrace Beijing so openly is an error,’’ he said, adding, “It is time to reassess our relations with Kenya and others who forge tight bonds with China.”
Risch’s remarks followed Ruto’s state visit to China where he [Ruto] announced more than 20 trade deals and signed memorandums of understanding covering roads, agriculture, health, education and information technology.
In a detailed rejoinder, Koech said Ruto’s comments should be seen as an assertion of Africa’s right to shape its future, not a pivot in allegiance.
“Kenya is calling for a more just global system, one where Africa contributes meaningfully to international governance and economic policy,” said Koech.
He said Kenya’s appeal mirrors the approach once taken by former President Donald Trump, who pushed for reform in global institutions and called for fairer terms for the United States.
“We are not seeking to dismantle multilateralism, but to rebuild it on principles of equity and shared responsibility,” noted Koech.
Koech stressed that Kenya values its long-standing relationship with the United States. He said Kenya remains a major non NATO ally, noting joint efforts in security, diplomacy and economic growth.
“Kenyans are proud to be a major non NATO ally of the United States, one of a few in Africa. This status was earned through years of cooperation in counterterrorism, peacekeeping and diplomacy,” he said.
He also cited Kenya’s leadership in the Haiti Multinational Security Support Mission, its peacekeeping record in Somalia and its ongoing trade talks with Washington as proof of deep US Kenya ties.
Koech further noted that American investments in Kenya remain strong, with companies including Microsoft, Coca Cola and IBM thriving in the country.
He also credited the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief with saving millions of lives in Kenya.
“If there is a reassessment to be made, then let it be one that recognises sovereignty, agency and mutual benefit,” said Koech.
“Kenya is not walking away from the United States. We are widening our diplomatic space as every nation has the right to do,” he added.
Koech invited Risch and members of the Senate committee to visit Kenya and see its position first-hand.
