Rigathi Gachagua who was impeached from the DP position on October 8, 2024 has publicly declared himself the leading contender to fly the opposition’s flag in the 2027 presidential election, asserting that he has both the political capital and national support to unseat President William Ruto after one term.
Gachagua already has presidential escort cars in his motorcade of high-end vehicles, chase cars in his picture and he claims that President Donald Trump provided those cars to him and he is going to give those cars to his new ambassadors he is appointing as he sends Ruto appointed representatives back home because they belong to the wrong tribe.

Talk about fireworks. This is smoking hot. You better change your name and tribe once Gachagua takes the presidency or at least be a cousin or you are doomed to ignominy in his forthcoming regime
Gachagua told people who attended one of his meetings in the US that he will appoint new ambassadors starting with one in Washington DC. He argued that diaspora people are in a good position to understand how Kenya can grow trade ties with the United States of America.
“I want to promise, this Los Angeles consulate, if we form the government, we shall appoint one from the diaspora to take care of your interests. You will fill the Washington DC embassy, because it is you who understands what needs to be done here in the States”.
“You understand the challenges of Kenyans here, you know the business opportunities, and you know how we can grow trade between us and Americans because you have been around for a long time. So you are the best people to advise our government on how we can sell our products here, such as tea and coffee,” Gachagua added.
The former DP took issue with Ruto appointing David Kerich as Kenya’s ambassador to the US, arguing that the president overruled his advice.
Some nakedly and aggressive tribalist filth that comes out of Gachagua’s could very well jeorpodize the existence of Kenya as country and could lead to active community confrontations in the country that could have devastating consequences for our Jamhuri.
It appears that being in the US and dedicating his time to talking a section of Kenyans there that come from his community has given him an opportunity to expose his very dangerous politics to the whole country.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is engaging with the business community in Boston.
Gachagua also highlighted the community’s distinctive traits, their aggressiveness, enterprise, and work ethic, which have propelled their success both locally and in the diaspora.
In Boston Gachagua openly exposed himself when he argued that the Kikuyu community is the driver of the Kenyan economy.
“When you destroy this community, you destroy Kenya.” Gachagua lamented that the economic slowdown in the community is attributed to President William Ruto’s “war on the mountain”,
Gachagua declared that, “Since William Ruto declared war on the mountain, the economy is almost collapsing because people have stopped paying taxes. People have stopped investing. They are waiting for the government, the way you are holding your money here. That is what people are doing, even ourselves.”
“We do this because this community is responsible for the goals of the Kenyan economy, and that is why you are successful here, because that’s the way we were born. We are very aggressive, we are very enterprising, and we are very outgoing. And that is why we are in every town in Kenya,” he said.
“The mountain is one, the males, the bearers. We are talking one language, and we are all staying together and working together.”
It is impossible to comprehend or even imagine that those are the words coming out of the mouth someone who wants to be the president of a country called Kenya.
And Gachagua is safe making such ugly statements which threatens the country’s existence because his fellow leaders in the United Opposition cannot dare to question such thinking as what defines the United Opposition because they are there to follow Gachagua and not even to pretend to lead Kenya. In fact right now Kalonzo Musyoka has just sneaked into the US to talk to his boss. Good luck fellas.
Can any Kenyan imagine any other political leader talking like that in a campaign trail. Such a politician would be completed wiped out of the Kenyan political landscape by outraged Kenyans and Gachagua might face that pretty soon.
“I am the frontrunner, and I think I have the best chance to be president,” Gachagua told the crowd, positioning himself as the most viable alternative to President Ruto.
“Everyone who wants to be president has been told: go and look for your votes. Mobilize your supporters. After Christmas next year, we will meet and decide who carries the flag—just one candidate to face William Ruto,” he said.
Of course there is always the fact that Rigathi Gachagua was impeached and thrown out of his DP job and that means unless the impeachment is overturned by the courts he is legally prohibited from holding any public office and the presidency is just the most important public office in Kenya. So Gachagua running for the presidency will be determined by the courts and he is free to appeal up to the Supreme Court if that becomes necessary.
The real nightmare here for Gachagua and the United Opposition is that taking the appeals to the Supreme Court could mean come mid 2027 or beyond Gachagua’s appeal could still be in court. Then what does he do.
DP Gachagua assembles Paul Muite-led team of 20 lawyers to defend him against impeachment
October 05, 2024

Will Gachagua be ready and willing to drop out from the presidential race if he is the chosen candidate and it is approaching time for the candidates to present their papers to the IEBC? If Gachagua presents his papers before he is cleared from his impeachment by the courts he will be told he cannot run for the job. Then what?
In case time is closing for the IEBC clearance and the big guy is not cleared yet, will he just hand over the candidacy to one of the other leaders like Kalonzo Musyoka or Martha Karua? And more so, how many of the United Opposition candidates will wait for Gachagua to drop off before they launch their own presidential candidacy as time runs out?
This is beginning to sound like rocket science but it could get worse for the United Opposition if some candidates tired of waiting for Gachagua to make up his mind decide to declare themselves as presidential candidates. This could lead to three or four presidential candidates from the United Opposition.
At this time Gachagua’s deputy in the DCP bandwagon Cleophas Malala seems to think Gachagua will get the nod for the presidency and hang in there to the end of the appeals.
Malala: Gachagua still eligible to run for presidency

Democracy for Citizens Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala
Malala has asserted that ex-Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua qualifies to run for any office. He noted that if the court finds the process of impeachment was duly executed, then Gachagua will be barred from contesting.
“As it stands, Rigathi Gachagua qualifies to run for any office. Until he is proven guilty and has exhausted all appeal mechanisms, he still enjoys the rights, just like any other Kenyan, to vie for any office,” Malala said.
The key words from Malala’s statement is that Gachagua will only be willing to terminate his chances of doing his WANTAM thing if he has exhausted his appeals and loses in every one of those appeals. The problem there is that Gachagua cannot control the time at which his appeal process with be concluded at the Supreme Court.
The other serious headache for Gachagua and his team is the rising former Chief Justice David Maraga who is moving very firmly to be a presidential candidate in 2027.
Maraga promises transparency in people-driven fundraising and Leadership in Governance

One thing which is clear now is that David Maraga will be on the ballot box for the presidency in 2027 which could end up with much more candidates than many Kenyans thought before.
When Maraga launched his online fundraising to help him fight for the presidency it made one thing very clear and that is the fact that he has already launched his campaign for the big job. He is in the race now and will not jump onto any bandwagon.
Maraga is a principled person and he had the guts to stop Uhuru Kenyatta from taking the presidency through fraud when he declared the 2027 Presidential election results as fake and ordered new elections.
It took a whole lot of courage for the Chief Justice Maraga and his colleagues to make that decision and do what they thought was right for the country instead of bending to please the then very powerful president and his buddy Fred Matiang’i as the Interior CS when both were killing Kenyans everywhere demanding that the country accepts Uhuru Kenyatta as their president after rigging the election.

Kenya’s Supreme Court judge chief justice David Maraga (C) presides before delivering the ruling making last month’s presidential election in which Uhuru Kenyatta’s win was declared invalid in Nairobi, Kenya September 1, 2017.
The court found that the electoral commission “committed irregularities in the transmission of results.”
“The greatness of a nation lies in its fidelity to its constitution and a strict adherence to the rule of law,” Justice Maraga declared on 1 September when he delivered his shock verdict.
“It’s one of the only times you’ve ever seen a sitting president’s election be overturned by the court of law. This rarely happens,” Nic Cheeseman, a professor of democracy and international development at the University of Birmingham, told RFI.
President Uhuru Kenyatta, after initially welcoming the decision, vowed to “fix” the court if reelected and called Chief Justice Maraga and the other judges crooks.
“For the first time in the history of African democratization a ruling has been made by a court nullifying irregular elections of a president,” he said.
“It’s a proud moment to be Kenyan,” Dennis Owino, a political analyst with Kenya Insights told RFI.
“For a long time, Kenya has been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons,” he says, in reference to the violence that marred the presidential polls in 2007 and 2013, as well as last month when at least 24 people were killed, most of them by the security forces
From what Kenyans already know, Justice Maraga is not the kind of person who will take online donations from Kenyans and grab the money and jump to another group. He will be accountable to his supporters who are also helping him to raise money for his campaign.
This development is dreadful for Gachagua and his groups who have been trying to grab the Gen Z movement and cheating themselves that they are the saviours incarnate for the youth of Kenya never mind that the whole bunch, from Gachagua, Kalonzo Musyoka to Martha Karua and others have played big roles in some of the most repressive regimes in Kenya which killed thousands of Kenyan people including the youth of our country.

Martha Karua has publicly defended her role in the controversial 2007 presidential election, stating she has “no regrets” over her actions.
Martha Karua for example was the lynchpin of the Mwai Kibaki regime where she was the Minister for Justice when Kibaki slaughtered more that 1,500 Kenyans in cold blood during the Post election violence in 2007/8. Martha Karua actually sneaked at night to help swear Kibaki into office. Today we see Karua running to the courts to represent people charged in political cases by Ruto and and his team.
In 2007/8 during the Kibaki and Martha Karua massacre of Kenyans nobody was ever presented in the courts but thousands of Kenyans just got killed for Kibaki to keep power. The hypocrisy and shamelessness of the whole theartre defies any logic but that is Kenya for you.
The politicians who slaughter Kenyans one day always pretend to be the saviours of the same Kenyans when that suits their political interests at a different time. May be Kenyans are not the idiots those politicians think they are and that includes the Kenyan youth who have launched their own movement that people like Gachagua have been trying to hijack.
Rigathi Gachagua was a very proud champion of attacking and killing Kenyans while the DP and 77 Kenyans were killed in 2023 when he told Kenyans that he wakes up at 4.00 A.M every morning to make sure the police are attacking anybody who comes out for the demonstrations and now he thinks Kenyans are too stupid to remember him in his glory days.
Kenya’s Suppression of the 2023 Anti-Government Protests
Riot police officers disperse supporters of Kenya’s opposition Azimio La Umoja, One Kenya Alliance, during nationwide protests over the cost of living and alleged fraud during the 2022 elections, in Mathare, March 27, 2023.
Justice David Maraga has assured Kenyans of the transparency and accountability in the people-driven campaign he launched to raise funds for his 2027 presidential bid. In a statement dated July 23, 2025, Maraga expressed profound gratitude to the thousands of Kenyans who have already volunteered their time, resources, and effort, describing the initiative as unprecedented and citizen-led.
“We kicked off a people-driven campaign that is continuing to grow. The people’s call for us to provide a space for public contributions grows louder,” he said.
“We chose to move ahead, not with perfection, but with courage and hope that this will begin to change our predatory campaign politics.”
Maraga emphasized that his campaign will be built on the pillars of integrity, constitutional fidelity and full transparency in handling funds, data and volunteer information.
“To the best of my ability, I commit to complete transparency, accountability and responsible stewardship,” he pledged. In addition, the campaign is building a feedback mechanism to crowdsource public input on key manifesto items, aiming to craft a shared vision that reflects the aspirations of ordinary Kenyans. The statement further noted that Maraga’s team is working to collect feedback on policy priorities from Kenyans, which will inform the campaign’s manifesto.
This approach must be shocking to the Gachagua super team that there is a presidential candidate out there who is not pretending to know everything that ails our country and wishing to listen to ordinary Kenyans regardless of tribe or having big money in order to put forward a political agenda for the country.
Maraga is trying to put forward a political platform grounded on what Kenyans want to achieve in their lives as opposed to the hallucinations of the know all Gachagua types who have not even bothered to present a single plan of what they want to achieve for the country apart from the Wantam lyrics in a very boring song.
One other thing that could make Justice Maraga a big threat to the opposition groups is that he is not going to be campaigning for M.Ps and governors because he is not running an opposition party so he will only concentrate on his presidential campaigns. It might surprise our regular politicians when it is the governors and M.Ps asking Kenyans to vote for Gachagua once they see that he is a formidable force in the presidential race.
“We are inspired by your spirit. This campaign is a reminder that the Kenyan spirit is well and truly alive,” Maraga said.
The damaging problem from the self-declared champions of the Gen Z demands for a better Kenya is that Justice Maraga practically embraces the issues the Gen Z has been campaigning for since 2024 namely justice for Kenyans instead of government repression, fair economic programs without endless high taxes and providing a better cost of living for Kenyans.
Maraga is fully in lock and step with those demands of young Kenyans as opposed to political neanderthals who have been in political leadership for the entirety of their lives and never ever fought for justice and better living conditions for Kenyans. Now they are jumping into the Gen Z movement demands specifically to achieve their selfish political goals to control the country. That is what shameless opportunism looks like but this time they may meet their march in the battlefield.
David Maraga could be a big vote getter for the Gen Z patriots because of his clean and very much applauded record in the Justice system and also as one of the best Chief Justice Kenya ever had.
Meantime Kalonzo Musyoka is out of the country working on his plan if anything to help develop the country and he says his plan is for Kenyans. He forgot to mention how many Kenyans he carried with him to work on his “Ruto Must Go” plans for Kenyans. May be he needs to pull a Rigathi Gachagua kind of gatherings to work on his plan.
One thing these opposition boys haven’t learnt at all is that their “Ruto Must Go” pettiness is losing them any support they could get because Kenyans are now seeing them as jokers with no clue about what it means to run the country. Good for them and for Ruto.
My plan is for Kenyans to review, not you! Kalonzo tells off Ruto.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has told off President William Ruto over his persistent calls for the opposition to present Kenyans with an alternative development plan, rather than merely sloganeering.
In a statement, Kalonzo, promised his plan will only be presented to the people of Kenya for review, not to President Ruto.
He insisted that his priority agenda is to have Ruto out of office in 2027.
“I’m currently out of the country for strategic planning for a better Kenya. I will make my plan for Kenya for Kenyans to review, not Ruto. Agenda No. 1 is #RutoMustGo,” he said on Wednesday night.
Kenyans must hope that Kalonzo carried some Kenyans with him to go provide their thinking on what Kenya needs while he is the US.
As of right now with no agenda to present to Kenyans to deal with economic and other real issues the citizens want resolved, the entire United Opposition top guns, Rigathi Gachagua, Kalonzo Musyoka and Fed Matiang’i are in the US designing their strategic plans for Kenya. Are they hoping and praying that Donald Trump will draft their plans for them and give them a little money. Talk about completely clueless opposition leaders.
There is one more ongoing development in terms of the 2027 presidential elections where the ODM members and party leaders are discussing the possibilities they are looking at for those elections. Raila Odinga talking to the media a few days back said the ODM party will support the Ruto government until 2027 and the members will decide what direction to take at the right time.
In Raila Odinga’s case he has actually called for a national dialogue involving Kenyans from all sectors of our nation and including the young people in light of recent developments in mass struggles for justice by the young folks in the country.
It is obvious to Kenyans from all sectors of our country including the politicians that our country would be better off if we embrace efforts to build a democratic society that embraces core values for justice and economic development that would benefit all Kenyans and help in advancing the hopes of Kenyan people from the whole country to live better.
That discussion is still going on and Kenyans will decide what can help them move forward to achieve the demands of our youth which embraces what most people in our country have been trying to achieve for a long time with setbacks and a few steps forward.
Within the ODM as a national political party with significant roots in the country I am encouraged by their willingness to have open discussions on moving forward at this critical time. There are those who were hoping for a major blowout war within ODM as the party explores different ways to be central to the 2027 elections in every way possible.
Those characters waiting for turmoil within ODM are already getting disappointed. When ODM says it is a democratic party they mean it in words and deeds. ODM is not a party with “God sent” leaders like DCP or Wiper where one person does everything and others just stare at them.
ODM CEO Ong’wen defends SG Sifuna, dismisses reports of plot to remove him

Those in other political parties who were waiting for infighting within ODM must have felt sad when the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) CEO Oduor Ong’wen came out strongly in defense of the party’s Secretary General Edwin Sifuna amid rising criticism over his constant opposition of the political outfit’s working arrangement with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Ong’wen reaffirmed that Sifuna, as the ODM SG, is the official spokesperson of the party and is mandated to articulate its positions on key national matters.
Ong’wen emphasized that while Sifuna speaks for the party, he is also entitled to express his personal views, noting that this is a right enshrined in any functioning democracy.
The ODM CEO further clarified that no formal petition has been filed by any party member seeking the removal of Sifuna from his position.
He added that, should such a move ever arise, it would be handled strictly in accordance with the party’s internal procedures and democratic structures.
Ong’wen also reiterated the party’s stance on recent troubling events in the country, saying: “The ODM party does not support the recent wave of abductions and killings that have rocked the nation. Such actions are unacceptable and must be condemned.”
Whatever choice or choices ODM makes with regards to their participation in the 2027 elections, one thing Kenyans know for sure that ODM will be a key part of those elections at every level from electing the MCAs, the governor’s, the M.Ps all the way to the presidential elections.
ODM has done that for a generation now and Kenyans are aware of some of the great achievements the public has worked with ODM to achieve including the now cherished and beloved 2010 Constitution.
ODM had to fight neck and tail against Mwai Kibaki and his then Minister for Justice Martha Karua who tried to impose a bogus new constitution in 2005 which was crashed at the referendum and forced Kibaki to accept the 2010 Katiba which was passed in a referendum despite some floating watermelons.

Tens of thousands of Kenyans braved the cold and rain to celebrate the signing into law of that new constitution in 2010. President Mwai Kibaki, after the signing of the new constitution called it “the most important day in the history of our nation since independence”
As Kenyans all know that day could never have happened without the struggles of Kenyans led by ODM starting in 2002 when Raila Odinga helped Kibaki to defeat Moi and his agents who were supposed to take power for him.
Kenyans understand that ODM will be a big part of the 2027 elections just like they have always been at key historical moments and struggles to make our country better for its citizens. The ODM fraternity will make their choices listening to the Kenyan people as they always do. That is what a democratic party looks like instead of the personality cults Kenyans see in the United Opposition groupies.
ODM is quite frankly the only political party in Kenya that can point to concrete achievements in the struggle for justice and democracy in our country working hand in hand with the Kenyan people at every turn. Some of those struggles have included personal sacrifices from ODM leaders like detentions and political persecution including spending years in prison for the sake of our country.
Today Kenyans can see some loud voices claiming they are fighting for justice and democracy in Kenya but cannot point to a single achievement they helped to bring to the country despite the decades they have been political leaders in the National Assembly and in the cabinet.
Those people will not fool Kenyans with their new found love for justice just to get votes and keep doing what they have done all their lives until today.
