Senator Sifuna, Babu Owino Skip Ruto, Raila Meeting in Karen as ODM Firms Pact with UDA

ODM Secretary General and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna on Monday skipped a joint ODM-UDA Parliamemntary Group meeting in Karen, Nairobi, a forum led by President William Ruto and Raila Odinga.

Whereas a meeting between Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has sparked speculation over the Secretary General’s future in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), today’s joint meeting between UDA and ODM troops signal growing ties between the two political outfits, something Senator Sifuna has vowed to not be a part of.

“Since I am the Secretary General of the party, I will read all the resolutions from ODM, even if they insult me, except one. But the day the party decides it wants to support Ruto come 2027, that one I will not read,” Sifuna said in Trans Nzoia County last week.

This morning, President William Ruto noted that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga would have implemented the same reforms he has brought about should he have become President in 2022.

Ruto said that he is certain of it because their manifestos were similar in many ways.

He said Raila would also experience the same challenges he has faced, including becoming unpopular among the people.

The president, however, defended the decisions, saying that they are necessary for the transformation of Kenya.

He added that it is the reason Raila has been bold in calling out Members of Parliament over graft and extortion.
