Treasury CS John Mbadi and his Energy counterpart Opiyo Wandayi are on a charm offensive to solicit support for President Ruto in Nyanza region away from the ODM Party.
The two ex-ODM party leaders this weekend hinted at going it alone at a time the ODM Party is embroiled in internal leadership wars with party officials pulling in different directions.
Speaking in different forums over the weekend, Mbadi and Wandayi maintained that Nyanza region will back President Ruto for re-election in 2027.
Pointedly, Mbadi appeared at a function in Rift Valley on Saturday, accompanied by Interior PS Dr. Raymond Omollo whom a section of ODM party leaders are demanding to be removed from his interior docket.
The following day, CS Opiyo Wandayi also toured Rift Valley in a separate function where he declared total support and commitment to the regime of President Ruto.
The two cabinet secretaries have told their close allies that they will not be attending ODM Party events where some leaders are still undecided on the direction the Luo community should take ahead of 2027 polls.
They accuse a section of ODM party leaders of dishonesty, saying some are pro-Ruto during the day and anti-Ruto at night; a development that is confusing to the people of Nyanza region
