Matiang’i Has Asked The IEBC to Be Fair And That Starts With Him Being Barred From Any Public Office As A Convict

Matiang’i denies role in Miguna deportation, extrajudicial killings

After an explosive rolling out of facts by Miguna Miguna during an interview by Kenyan media in which Miguna told Kenyans that Fred Matiang’i is a convict with no respect for the laws of the country he wants to rule as he intends to be a presidential candidate in 2025.

The big question hovering over Matiang’i’s head right now after Miguna’s allegations about his behaviour and actions as the CS for Interior is whether IEBC will allow such a person to run for the presidency.

“Dr Matiang’i was convicted on the 28th of March 2018 by Justice Odunga and sentenced on the 29th. He has never complied with those orders,”. Those are the exact words of Miguna Miguna during and interview with the Kenya media on July 13, 2025.

Miguna further told the country that Justice Chacha Mwita also found Matiang’i culpable for what he described as “egregious atrocities.

In response, to the issues claimed by Miguna and forcing him into exile, Matiang’i dismissed the accusations as baseless.

“There is not a single passport I cancelled. Not even one. I challenge anyone to show proof,” he asserted.

For whatever reasons the former CS, Matiang’i did not respond to the most important accusation against him as a presidential candidate which is the fact that he was convicted by Justice Odunga on March 28, 2018 and sentenced the following day on March 29, 2018 and he has refused to abide by both court rulings.

If indeed Fred Matiang’i as Interior CS was convicted and sentenced by Justice Odunga he knows very well that those court rulings and records exist and will be provided to the IEBC when necessary and he can say whatever he wants about Miguna Miguna but the court records were not written by Miguna but by court judges in our country that everybody including CSs are obliged to obey.

“Let someone say, ‘Fred Matiang’i did this.’ Isn’t there a law?

Yes, Mr. Matiang’i there are laws in our country and Miguna has pointed out very specific cases and dates where your were found guilty of disobeying those laws and completely refusing to abide by direct court rulings. The details of those rulings and your actions of refusing to obey the laws of the country, Sir, are available in the courts that dealt with the matters at hand.

You, Mr. Matiang’i, just told the media that the country cannot afford to play games around the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).You also insisted that it is now upon the IEBC to ensure that Kenyans have trust in the Commission.

“We cannot lack faith in the IEBC and the courts or other state agencies and think we can have peace. I don’t want to pass judgment on the new IEBC commissioners, but they must first know that there can be no peace in Kenya if the people think there is foul play around IEBC.

Kenyans are going to take you very seriously on your statements about the IEBC not playing games and having to ensure that the Commission is trusted by Kenyans. You asked the IEBC and Kenyans to have faith in our courts and other state agencies.

What you have said yourself means that the IEBC will have every right to look at the court rulings and sentencing against you and take the right and fair decision about you running to be the president of our country based on the facts before them.

If the IEBC makes whatever decision they come to based what is fair and just within our laws, you want Kenyans to respect, we hope you will do the same and respect the IEBC decisions.
