Jubilee, DCP Forge New Alliance Linked to Uhuru in Bid to Unseat Ruto in 2027

A new political realignment is taking shape in the Mount Kenya region with reports that Jubilee Deputy Party Leader Jeremiah Kioni and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua are moving to forge a powerful alliance, reportedly backed by former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The two leaders, once fierce political rivals, will be holding joint rallies across the region in what insiders describe as a strategic effort to consolidate the Mount Kenya vote ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The emerging coalition is being framed as a unifying force for Mount Kenya, seeking to restore the region’s political influence and counter President William Ruto’s dominance.

Sources close to the talks reveal that discussions are underway for a potential merger between the Jubilee Party and Gachagua’s newly registered Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP).

The proposed entity, to be named the Democracy for Citizens Alliance (DCA), is expected to bring together key political figures aligned with Uhuru Kenyatta’s legacy and those disillusioned with the current administration.

Under the proposed structure, Gachagua would assume the role of Party Leader, with former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i serving as Deputy Leader, and Uhuru Kenyatta taking up the ceremonial position of Party Patron. Jeremiah Kioni is expected to play a central role in coordinating the alliance’s grassroots mobilization and policy agenda.

Leaders involved in the talks say the alliance’s mission is a national rescue effort, vowing to “send President Ruto home” in 2027. They argue that the current government has failed to deliver on its promises and that a united opposition front is necessary to “reclaim the country’s direction.”

They see DCA as a potential game-changer, particularly if it succeeds in rallying the Mount Kenya vote bloc, which remains a decisive factor in national elections.
