Gachagua Reveals a National Tragedy in Kenya but he Doesn’t even Notice It

I was nervous looking at Rigathi Gachagua hanging on to his big walking stick tightly with his two hands as he tries to get out of a cave of a kitchen in Mbeere North while he was campaigning there. I felt like that guy could have snapped out of his stick or slide in the muddy kitchen floor and come smashing his face into the dishes and stoves at the kitchen door. I am sure if that happened Gachagua would have gone mad with Ruto for forcing him to have such a bad fall down and claim that it was a plan by Ruto to kill him.

My feeling is that if any sensible presidential candidate was walking into those kinds of kitchens in the rural communities of our country, instead of trying so hard to get a picture inside the kitchen, the leader would stand outside pointing at that kitchen declaring there will be no such unhealthy and just plain terrible structures as kitchens in Kenyan rural communities where millions of people, particularly women, try to make food for their families.

Such leader would have his MP candidate there telling the residents that as soon as he becomes the MP of the area, he will allocate 5% or more from the CDF to build kitchens and community cooking places in Kenyan homes so the people who live in those homesteads would have descent places to make food for their families.

The kitchen is the most important place for any home and in the rural areas it is a disaster zone and in many of those kitchens families make food many times for more than ten people including children. It is hard enough for those families to get food to cook but at least it is not too hard to build functional kitchens out there and whoever does that would be loved by tens of millions in our rural communities which is by far the majority of the Kenyan population.

Here are some of the typical cooking places for rural Kenyans and that is if they have anything because the rest who have no kind of kitchen just cook inside the tiny houses where they live meaning they sleep there and it is very difficult for them.

Here are some of the grand kitchens in our rural homes

Looking at this rural kitchen disaster in our country, I would ask President William Ruto to have a meeting with all the MPs in his Broad Based government to agree to pass a law requiring that for a start 5% of CDF be allocated to building rural kitchens in every constituency.

That will force the United Opposition MPs to join hand not to look mean and foolish to the Kenyan voters, majority of whom are the ones who need those kitchens to improve their living conditions. Kenyans always talk about the high cost of living and that is a big issue for everyone in the country. But how about our living conditions like having a house for the rural folks and having descent workable kitchens.

Okay we need the big road constructions, the Affordable Housing, or even the stadia being built or launched by the president but for once just do something which will not cost the Kenyan taxpayers hundreds of billions like good kitchens for Kenyans but will offer Kenyans a good chance to improve their lives.

Kenyan women are the ones who hold the burden of trying every means possible to figure out how to make food for the family. It is time for our country and the government to make their lives and that of their families better by providing much needed facilities for daily living like kitchens and not just talking.

The reason the MPs never want anybody to touch the CDF and why there is never a budget for CDF in any constituency is that the MPs decided to turn CDF into their pocket money and the best way to do that for them is to come up with a fake list of thousands of school kids getting bursaries in their constituencies because they never have to show any proof that any bursary was actually spent on those alleged receivers.

Look at that Chaque from the bank for Sh. 38 million for Bursary Secondary School. Does that Bank Chaque specify which schools the money is being sent to? No, it does not. Does the Chaque show the names of students receiving the bursaries? No, it doesn’t. The reason for such anonymous chaques from CDF is known to all Kenyans and that is the fact that the MP grabs that “Bursary Chaque” and takes the money for themselves claiming it has been spent on thousands of students whose names and any proof they got the money nobody will ever see.

I mean the mafia are bad wherever they are but never this smooth like our MPs. They don’t need guns to take billions every year meant for developments in their constituencies. They just collect the Bursary Chaque” and take pictures while doing so to make it look like for sure that money is going into student bursaries in their constituencies.

When it comes to CDF all MPs from whatever party are united to make sure the CDF remans squarely in their pockets. President Ruto and the opposition have to figure out how to break that evil alliance of thieves stealing CDF money by coming up with real practical projects that Kenyans need now, and they can get the support of Kenyans to make sure part of the CDF is used for those needs.

Right now, we are throwing in the agenda to build rural kitchens to the government of William Ruto, if and when United Opposition get tired of their boring WANTAM failed agenda they could join on to enable CDF being used to build rural kitchens and many other urgently needed rural infrastructure to make life livable for the majority of our population who greatly build the country from their farms and hard work.

I know about rural kitchens because I grew up in one of those. Our parents had their house and they also built a kitchen which was fairly good but it was also the sleeping room for all the kids and even some neighbouring kids. It was squeezing in the kitchen between the sufurias and kendo (cooking spot) and trying to get some sleep in a place filled with smoke and is very hot. But we managed to sleep, and our mother was the first person at the door in the morning to get us to go wash our faces and she cooks some kind of breakfast before we went to school.

I was only able to escape from the kitchen bedroom for five of us after I joined Kakamega High School and when I came home my father had all the wood and stuff ready for me to build my simba. Oh we did it fast and my sisters were the ones most eager to get it done and when that happened and soon we all moved to the simba to sleep and read which we did very little of even when our parents put us there during the day to do schoolwork.

Kenyans need good and healthy kitchens so they can stop living in the stone ages six decades since Kenya became and independent country. The focus of our political life today should have be in developing the whole country particularly in the rural communities which is the biggest portion of the population of Kenya. Now is a good time to start that piece of very much needed work.

Instead of focusing on real and tangible Kenyans need particularly after a by-election where opposition screams of political superiority to the Broad Based government was smashed to pieces, the losers are back to their usual tricks of figuring how teargas themselves and blame Ruto for that. This nonsense did not work in the by-elections, and it is going to be worse in 2027

Gachagua blames Ruto over Kariobangi North church teargas incident

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has issued a hard-hitting statement calling out President William Ruto for presiding over what he describes as increasing attacks on innocent worshippers, women, children and clergy, following chaos that broke out at PCEA Kariobangi North Church.

The service had been organized to celebrate the victory of David Warui, the DCP candidate who won the Kariobangi North MCA seat in the Thursday, November 30, 2025, by-election held on Thursday.

“It is unfortunate and disturbing that William Ruto is turning Kenya into a militia country where women, children and churches have become his key targets of lethal attacks,” he said.

Here is the one truth someone like Gachagua will have to learn, Kenyans know that it is him, Rigathi Gachagua who is doing his best to turn Kenya into a militia country and when that happens as he wishes he will continue to drive himself into political oblivion in the country and that seems to be where he is heading.

Today Gachagua also announced that he has made an arrangement with Kalonzo Musyoka to provide votes so that Gachagua gets the Governor’s office in Nairobi for his DCP and also gets a senate seat and the Nairobi Women representative seat.

What does Kalonzo Musyoka get in that arrangement? Maybe Gachagua has also realized that Kalonzo is only good at winning MCA positions and he will get a few of those in Nairobi and be very happy. How about Fred Matiang’i with a significant vote base in Nairobi.

Matiang’i doesn’t seem to matter to the opposition anymore, he made them look bad by winning three MCA seats in Nyamira and Gachagua has directly attacked him since the by-elections.

The crazy thing here is that the same Gachagua who faced humiliating defeats in the by-election is at the forefront telling the United Opposition that he will decide who runs for what seat and where.

Good because that means a lot of them will lose in 2027. The big opposition ship has a hole at the bottom, and sea water and stones are coming in but instead of the opposition trying to fix that they are waiting until that ship sinks completely to the bottom of the sea. Great for Kenya.
