At the rate I am going someone may think I am about to put a full team of Africans playing great football in Europe. But of course I cannot leave out Trevoh Chalobah who was in Chelsea defense during the World Cup final and also plays for the England national team. The young man came to England with his parents from Sierra Leone when he was two years old.

What is so scary about that team? For me as black person I can see 7 black players there and they are some of the best footballers in the world today. I can tell you that there are many football fans in England who are not very happy about that. But the boys are doing their job and stand tall in the Premier league and in the world of football. Good for them and their fans like me.

While Cole Palmer stole all the headlines from Chelsea’s Club World Cup final victory, a lot of praise needs to be handed to their goalkeeper for his performance.
One player who was outstanding in the Club World Cap games was their goalkeeper Robert Sanchez. Just about everybody in the Premier League football including Chelsea fans did not like Sanchez because he tends to give the ball back to the other teams attackers when he makes bad kicks from the goal. Well he was the best goalkeeper in the whole World Cup games and won the Golden Glove Award as the best in all the 32 teams that were in the tournament.
The other thing that makes Chelsea very scary is that they are the youngest tea in the Premier League. That is good and bad for them. The good part is that some of the most amazing players they have are in early 20’s and will be playing for Chelsea for the next decade and it scares the hell out of every other team out there.
We can start with their formidable defensive midfielder Moises Caicedo who Chelsea signed from Brighton Club two years ago when he was 21 years old. Chelsea paid more than $ 120 million for him and at that time that was the highest any team in England had ever paid for a player. The usual Chelsea haters like Gary Neville former Man United star player were saying Chelsea was dumb to pay such money for a very young player.
Today that money for him looks like a great piece of luck for Chelsea because at 23 years now he just just the best defensive mid for Chelsea as well as Ecuador where he plays in the national team.
The problem with having such a young player who plays 90 minutes every game for Chelsea is that there are some really good younger players now in Chelsea who are great midfield players and they look at Caicedo in front of them and the first thing in their mind is that they would have to wait for ten years to be in the first team.
I am talking about a young player like Andrey Santos who was playing for Strasbourg Football Club in France in League 1 and scored 11 goals and 5 assists and at times was the captain of the team as a 20 year old star.

Chelsea paid some $ 80 million to get Enzo Fernandez from Benfica but the games that made the then 20 year old player look great was when he played for the Argentina national team in the World Cup in 2022 where he was considered as one of the best players in a team that included Lionel Messi and worn the World for Argentina.
Fernandez at 22 years of age now is getting close to the best No. 8 player in all football where he is an attacking midfielder for Chelsea and the fans love him because he is everywhere in the field. If you are Santos looking at that and also learning from him you know your play time is going to be scarce.
In fact when Santos played defensive mid for Chelsea at the World Cup just after joining the team he was their midfielder in semi-final game which they won 2-1. Chelsea fans knew right away that he is the real deal.
And that midfield still have other young players like Romeo Lavia whom Chelsea bought for big money when he was 19 years old. He has had some injuries that has kept him from playing but now he is fully back and many people in football compare him to Moises Caicedo and he is another one waiting for the chance to get midfield play time.

In just eight Premier League appearances for the Blues this season, there are few in west London who are in doubt about just how far their new midfield metronome could go far in the Premier League.
The other young Chelsea football player who plays everywhere from attacking mid to a forward and sometimes he plays as a right winger because as long as Cole Palmer is able to walk he will be in Chelsea First 11 to play wherever he can be put and will score goals. Chelsea stole Palmer from Man City where he was an academy player but Pep hadn’t noticed how good he is and let him go to Chelsea.

Lets leave it there for midfield, how about the attack where Chelsea just sold Noni Madueke to Arsenal even though he is a great player in both right and left attacking wing who can score goals and was also one the fastest players in the Chelsea team.
They had to sell him because Chelsea has a load of players there fighting hard to get the starting team. One good player there who can also play both winger positions is Pedro Neto.
Pedro Neto is almost as fast as Noni Madueke but he is a better scorer and Chelsea new they could only keep one of them because the other will not sit on the bench and neither of them could accept that bench warming business.
Also coming to the Chelsea team is Estevao Willian already playing in the Brazil Nation team at 18 years of age. Chelsea signed him two years but he was 16 years old then and could not come to England because he was too young and now he is ready.
The Brazilian Palmeiras player has been compared to Lamine Yamal the Barcelona Wonderkid.
Estevao Wiilian at 17 years of age has been playing for Palmeiras Football Club in Brazil and helped take the team to the FIFA World Cup where Palmeiras made it to the Semi-Final and was beaten 2-1 by Chelsea and that gave the young man a chance to play against his new team.

One more young player in the wings for Chelsea who can also play as a striker is the 19 year old Tyrique George who is already playing for the first 11 when needed and was in the FIFA World Cup as a player and the kid won his first trophy in that World Cup.

Now the other issue for me as a football fun is that at home we have a literal war when we are watching the Premier League where my son and me are ardent Chelsea supporters. The most noisy guy is one of my nephews who is a Liverpool fan.
One day we were eating at the Kosewe restaurant and there is a game on TV and that young man does not sit down. We are eating and when Liperpool scores he is jumping and singing and we tell him to sit down because we are eating and enjoying our food and he tells us he is eating and enjoying Liverpool beat the crap out of some team.
The polite guy is the Arsenal fan and he never gets mad when we tell him that Arsenal has not won a single trophy in over a decade since Arsene Wenger and Thierry Henry left and Arteta always looks like he is going to win the Premier League then collapses with the team towards the end of the season.

The Arsenal fan in our family is the most polite and one reason why he doesn’t get mad with us is that we usually watch the games in his house because he has one of those huge flat TV screens and he would feel bad to kick us out of his house just because we are rude football fans.
Man U guys are always tough but if we are to be home this year hopefully in December we are carrying huge photos of the Premier League results where Man U just escaped relegation by a thin one inch.
We tell Man U fans at home that they need to read everything that Gary Neville who was a hero in Man U some decades ago says now which is that Man U will be competing for a trophy “next year” and he has been saying that for over a decade now.

The one we give a break is a young kid who is 18 years old now and was playing football for Mukumu Boys High School in Kakamega area and got picked by Gor Mahia and is now in their young team and some scouts want to take him to go to Sweden.
He is a Chelsea fan no doubt but with him nobody bugs him because one, he is just a kid and two he may very well represent the Adongo family in the game we are all crazy about.
My four sisters who are the mothers of all those boys just wishes the games end quick and we are back to normal life which we always do, not for them but for ourselves to get on with life.
