Sifuna dismisses claims of ODM–UDA by-elections pact
We know there is a battle by politicians to inherit ODM as they consider themselves the kingpins of the party and demand to speak for every party member and they expect them to listen to the new bosses of ODM. I found it a little rude for Senator Edwin Sifuna to be mad that leaders and voters in the ongoing by-election campaigns in Kenya are shouting the slogan of “TUTAM” as they cheer their candidates.
That made Sifuna very angry with those leaders and voters doing the shouting and he made his position clear on what ODM folks have to say when they open their mouths at campaign rallies.
“The pact we made with UDA did not constitute a coalition agreement. I hear people going around saying there are broad-based candidates in the by-elections. Broad-based is not a party, and therefore, it has no candidates. Or else tell me what the broad-based symbol is? ” He said.
“The coming by-election is for the members of the County Assemblies and MPs. There is no presidential election, so I want to tell the people campaigning for our candidates not to bring up two-term chants in our campaigns,” he added.
“We have people who only look at parties’ symbols while voting. When such a person asks for a broad-based candidate, how will you handle that? We don’t want confusion in the upcoming polls unless people want our candidates to fail,” he added.
Senator Sifuna is a respected Kenyan politician, and he knows that when voters gather together with their leaders there will be songs and chants indicative of their views and feelings about their country at the time. Nobody and not even Raila Amolo Odinga would dictate to voters what to chant or sing in rallies because you cannot dictate how people feel. If the “TUTAM” chant resonates with voters as they look at where their country is heading that is what politics is about.
Voters can read and sometimes even dictate the mood of the nation and more so during elections. There is no need for ODM or anybody else to take feelings and sentiments from voters. The job of the politicians is to read the ground and provide practical directions on how to achieve what Kenyans want and that is very often reflected on how they feel and what they demand on the ground.
As things stand now the theme of a united Kenya where different communities are working together to achieve development on the basic needs of the citizens seems to have taken centre stage in our national politics. That is good for the country.
If Kenyans see the “TUTAM” movement as the right route to take the country into a better place by providing what Kenyans need, nobody will stop that. Sometimes politicians forget that they are actually supposed to be the followers of what those who vote for them want achieved.
There is a mood today in the country to bring all citizens together regardless of our ethnic and political realities so that what is good for the country is way above all other political interests of any individual leaders. Kenyans want to throw TRIBALISM into the dustbin of history. It feels good and great and the country knows that and that is why it is happening and is gona get bigger everyday as Kenyans as a country face the challenges of life.
That is the reality unfolding in our country and has gained even bigger weight in the country following the death of Raila Odinga who is considered as one of Kenya’s greatest political leaders in our history as an independent country.
In away what DP Kindiki said when he was in Kasupul campaigning for Boyd Were to win that seat makes a lot of sense considering where we are now as a country.

Kindiki, while speaking in Kasipul, reiterated that ODM and UDA would jointly support each other in the November mini-polls.
The DP stated that his endorsement was in the spirit of the broad-based arrangement signed by President William Ruto and the late ODM leader, Raila Odinga.
“We decided that as the UDA, we will support the ODM’s candidate in Kasipul. ODM’s candidate here in Kasipul, who is our candidate too, is this young man, Boyd Were. He is the candidate of the broad-based government. Let no one come here and lie to you that they are in the broad-based,” he stated.
He also affirmed that UDA will support ODM candidates in Ugunja and Magarini as ODM returns the favours in Malava and Banisa Constituencies.
And then this Ruto Affordable Housing project to build houses all over the country is driving me nuts. I have a good property in Bondo Municipality and now we are just building family homes there which is great.
But then when I see those Ruto gorofas for homes for Kenyans, I say oh goodness me, we are wasting high value land building houses, when you need every piece to build gorofas. That fight is going on within the family right now and we will see where it ends.
But here are Ruto’s housing program results and it is beginning to look like a work of genius by his government.

There is one new house buildings and constructions that Kenyans would love and that has to building houses and homes for themselves and their families.
Here is the best way to provide housing to Kenyans which could be part of the Affordable Housing plans in the country and that is to provide facilities to help Kenyans build houses in their homes. The infrastructure has to be there.
The government needs to provide a program where Kenyans can build houses in their lands and homes. Provide the title deeds and the financial resources to help Kenyans build modern sustainable houses in their homes.
And that is just a start for affordable national housing for Kenyans which is a great idea that could very well define the William Ruto dynasty.
