Our retired President Uhuru Kenyatta was in the middle of a big fracas because of alleged statements from ODM leaders accusing him of trying buy people in ODM.
It was a pretty harmless statement from Gladys Wanga but Uhuru Kenyatta with the opposition mob desperate for an agenda that can resonate with Kenyans jumped on that as something they can use to fight ODM which they fear will help President William Ruto win elections in 2027.
In the big Kenyan news today, former President Uhuru Kenyatta has dismissed claims that he is attempting to divide the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), saying he respects the party and its members and has no interest in interfering with its internal affairs.
Speaking during the burial of former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo in Lumakanda, Kakamega County, Uhuru told the gathering that those levelling accusations against him were mistaken.
The former president called on politicians to stop trading accusations and maintain clarity and courage in their leadership.
“In my view, someone who is confused, who keeps trying to please one side and then another, must stop making excuses. That kind of talk is meaningless to the ordinary citizen. Build your party, stand by it, and have a clear position — with courage and conviction. Endless back-and-forth talk, moving from place to place and trading accusations, does not take the country anywhere,” Uhuru said.
“I am retired but let me be clear: if you poke me in the eye, I will poke back. We are not afraid. No. Let us respect one another. Cyrus respected everyone. I respect him and I respect his party, and others should do the same,” he stated.
Uhuru paid tribute to Jirongo, describing him as a pillar of multiparty democracy.
“But our unity was never broken. Those standing here today acknowledge that if there was anyone who served as a custodian and pillar of the multiparty democracy movement, it was Cyrus Jirongo,” he said.
“He understood the meaning of democracy, the importance of respecting political parties, and the value of working with people from other parties without destroying their parties. He respected the political order that was created in this country through great struggle — that multiparty space.”
ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna, who was also in the event, defended Uhuru and issued an apology on behalf of the Orange party.
“On behalf of the party, I want to apologize to you, Uhuru, for the insults directed at you by some leaders of ODM who sought to advance their own agendas or to help their ‘father’ become president. Those of us who were there know the truth: you worked diligently, you were committed to helping him (Raila),” he said.
“You dedicated your resources and efforts. Today, some want to undermine the very work that was done. On behalf of the entire ODM party, because the party represents both its smart members and fools, I want to apologize for those insults that were directed unfairly.”
As Kenyans know the circus with ODM fighting Uhuru and others was started specifically by Edwin Sifuna very arrogantly attacking other ODM leaders as if being the Secretary General of the party, ODM is his personal property and now that Raila Odinga is dead, (Sifuna) is the voice of the party.
I could take all that in without any concerns at all because the only thing these politicians do is talk and sometimes you can excuse their mouths for having to put up with so much crap flowing out of there all the time.
But the fact that Edwin Sifuna as the ODM Secretary General referred to other leaders of his party as “WASHENZI” speaking in public and trying to kneel down to the likes of Uhuru and others like Rigathi Gachagua just makes one feel sad for ODM. That one of their key leaders calls ODM a party of fools makes me ask myself why Edwin Sifuna has decided to make a political career being a leader of fools in ODM. Why not resign from that party.
Sifuna apologized to Uhuru Kenyatta at Jirongo funeral in some bizarre nonsense, when is he going to apologize to his fellow ODM members and leadership for his public statements saying they are idiots?
Sifuna does not need the ODM National Democratic Council (NDC) to vote him out of party leadership because he has already confessed on what he thinks of ODM leaders and members.
Time for Sifuna to go and join Rigathi Gachagua if they will put up with him or join Uhuru in Jubilee to promote Fred Matiang’i as their presidential candidate. Good luck with that my friend but you have killed any hope of ODM keeping you as their Secretary General unless they are as foolish as you told Kenyans at the Jirongo funeral.
ODM on fire as JUNET MOHAMED goes after Senator SIFUNA over his public apology to UHURU – “There are very few fools in Kenya”
Suna East Member of Parliament, Junet Mohamed, fired back at Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna following his public apology to former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
In a bold social media post, Junet declared himself the official spokesperson of what he termed the “washenzi” group within ODM, directly challenging Sifuna’s recent criticism of party leaders.
“I shall be the spokesperson of the ‘WASHENZI’ Group in the Mighty ODM party. Without fear and favor, so help me God,” he wrote.
Plainly what Kenyans can see now is that there are leaders in ODM who want to go to other political parties and groups. That is their right as Kenyans, and they should move away from ODM which they do not like now as soon as possible and that will be good for everybody including the protesting ODM leaders.
Why cling to a party, you do not like and publicly despise to please your new political friends. Just go somewhere else and have your political life whichever way you choose.
Kenya is now officially a multi-party state. It took a while and a lot of sacrifice by Kenyan patriots to get there and that is something the likes of Sifuna did not have to worry about. Others did and it is time to move the country forward.
Ruto outlines key projects to be completed in 2026

President William Ruto has outlined a slate of major infrastructure and development projects scheduled for completion or rollout in 2026, describing the year as a period of “execution at scale” for his administration.
The President said the government will accelerate the tarmacking of 6,000 kilometres of roads already contracted and under construction across the country. Among the key projects is the Rironi–Mau Summit Road, which he said is on track for completion and opening by mid-2027.
He added that funding has already been secured to extend the road from Mau Summit to Eldoret and Malaba, as well as from Mau Summit through Kericho to Malaba.
“Changing and transforming a country does not require a miracle. It requires a clear and bold vision, and a leadership equal to that vision. The nations that have succeeded were not exceptional by accident; they were deliberate by choice,” the President said.
In a major rail infrastructure push, the President said the government will commence construction of the Naivasha–Narok–Bomet–Nyamira–Kisumu–Malaba Standard Gauge Railway (SGR). He said the project will create a modern transport and logistics corridor linking Kenya to East and Central Africa, boosting regional trade and integration.
The projects form part of the administration’s broader agenda to stimulate economic growth, improve infrastructure, and position Kenya as a regional transport and investment hub.
Kenya is bigger than any of these political parties and big talking “leaders”. Thy are going to find that out soon enough for the country to forget about them.
