The new cheer crowd for Edwin Sifuna including the likes of Boni Khalwale are begging Oparanya to let their guy get the presidency in 2027.
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has appealed to Cooperatives Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya to rally behind his political bid ahead of the 2027 general election.
Speaking at Sabatia Market on Saturday, August 8, 2026, during the Linda Mwananchi tour of the area, Sifuna told Oparanya that he only needed his blessing and vote, expressing confidence that the support of the former Kakamega governor would help him secure victory.
“I want to ask my brother Oparanya for his vote. I know he might not agree with me politically, but I am pleading for his vote in 2027. I know if he supports me, it will be an early win.”
The appeal comes days after Oparanya defended Sifuna against criticism over his political activities and his role as ODM secretary-general before being kicked out.
Speaking during an interview with a local TV on Thursday, July 23, 2026, Oparanya said the attacks directed at Sifuna were unfair, noting that the Nairobi senator had done his best while serving as ODM Secretary-General.
“Sifuna has done his best. As a secretary general and as someone whom I have worked with as a deputy party leader, I think people are at times unfair to him,” Oparanya said.
Gachagua right now claims to be mobilizing 7 million votes under what he rudely named as the “Hyena Coalition” to try to scare politicians from the Mt. Kenya region of the nation.
Does any of those Sifuna supporters think Gachagua is going to hand those votes to Sifuna who is from Western Kenya and not from Mt. Kenya?
Think again. The 2027 election will be decided between President William Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua and there is nothing anybody can do about that at this time.
Gachagua will not accept Edwin Sifuna as the opposition presidential candidate in 2027. He could tolerate Kalonzo Musyoka if he is completely barred but the DP candidate in that case will be one of Gachagua’s boys. This is not rocket science anymore. Please let’s deal with the facts as they are on the ground.
Edwin Sifuna does not need to look too far to see the reality in front of him. The Murang’a governor Irungu Kang’ata a very popular guy who was dancing with him the other day in Thika and Bungoma saw the light and went home so he can have a chance to win his seat in 2027.
Will Edwin Sifuna be forced to wear the DCP badge now? No because they do not need him and he is okay where he is. Maybe 20 years from now something else will happen for Edwin Sifuna as a prospecting Kenyan president. Who knows.
