Former Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has written to former President Uhuru Kenyatta demanding clarity on the Jubilee Party’s direction as the country gears up for the 2027 General Election.
In a letter addressed to Kenyatta in his capacity as Party Leader, Wambugu expresses concern over what he terms growing confusion and frustration among party members and aspirants across the country. He warns that the uncertainty surrounding Jubilee’s political strategy is eroding confidence among its supporters and weakening grassroots mobilization efforts.

Wambugu questions the diminishing visibility of Jubilee Party branding in recent political events, noting that the absence of branded materials such as T-shirts and caps has raised doubts about the party’s organizational strength. He argues that the lack of visible presence has created perceptions that Jubilee may be struggling internally or informally conceding certain regions to rival political formations.

The former legislator also seeks clarification on whether Jubilee has entered into any formal or informal cooperation agreements with other political parties that could influence aspirants planning to contest under its ticket. He calls on the leadership to disclose any existing zoning arrangements and explain the criteria used to make such decisions.
“It is critical for aspirants and grassroots organizers to know whether there have been negotiated arrangements with other parties to avoid investing time and resources in areas already ceded,” Wambugu writes.
On the presidential race, Wambugu urges the party to take a clear stance on its 2027 candidate. He specifically asks whether former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i has been endorsed as Jubilee’s presidential flagbearer and, if so, how that decision was reached within the party’s constitutional and democratic framework.

Wambugu emphasizes that internal debate and accountability should be viewed as essential elements of a vibrant and democratic political organization rather than acts of dissent.
The letter also announces the creation of the Jubilee Aspirants Forum 2027, a platform bringing together individuals intending to vie for various elective positions under the party’s banner. According to Wambugu, the forum seeks to strengthen internal democracy, coordinate aspirants, and champion transparent and credible nomination processes as Jubilee prepares for the 2027 elections.
