Nandi Senator Samson Cheragei has dismissed Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja’s calls for a dialogue between President William Ruto and Raila Odinga, saying they in UDA will not allow the head of state to have a sit down with the Azimio leader.
In a tweet on Monday, Senator Cherargei instead asked the Nairobi Governor to go ahead and have a handshake with Mr. Odinga, just like he has done with the Azimio Coalition MCAs in the County Assembly of Nairobi.
Speaking on Sunday in Nairobi, Governor Sakaja stressed on the need for a dialogue between the President and the Opposition noting that the economy was in a bad state and the planned protests will further hurt Kenyans.
”Demonstrations will not help solve any problems. I ask President Ruto to reason with the Azimio coalition to solve this issue. Those advising the president from having talks are misleading him. This does not however mean that we will have a handshake. No one wants that,” he said, adding that some leaders were misguiding the head of state not to reach out to the Opposition.
“I’m glad that the president has a lot of wisdom and I’m sure he will do the right thing because yeye ndio baba yetu lazima atushikilie sisi sote,” Sakaja added.
