Agriculture CS Peter Munya says he only speaks with DP William Ruto at cabinet meetings, attended by both, in their capacities as public officials.

William Ruto’s men in July 2019, accused the Agriculture CS of being part of a cabal in government that was planning to eliminate the DP.

”We (referring to the DP) have not spoken for a while. We all meet in a work setting and I have only spoken to him during Cabinet meetings,” Mr. Munya told NTV on Tuesday.

In July 2019, DP William Ruto’s men made outrageous claims, saying government officials working for President Uhuru Kenyatta had put in place an elaborate scheme to eliminate the DP.

Among those fingered were Cabinet Secretaries Peter Munya (Agriculture), Joe Mucheru (IT), and Sicily Kariuki (Water and Sanitation).

”The complainant makes a substantive complaint in writing against which we can be able to respond. But we have made it clear that at no time have we met anywhere, not just in La Mada, to kill the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya,” the Agriculture CS said at that time.

Munya, a former Meru governor dismissed the allegations, saying they were just politics and that their meetings had a blessing of President Uhuru Kenyatta, to discuss the development of Mt Kenya region.

The claims were never justified and the matter ended. It was all politics,” he revealed.
