United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) are giving Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja one month to review his county appointments, especially the county chief officers where he handed a number of dockets to the Azimio Coalition.

The MCAs led by Anthony Kiragu, the UDA minority leader in Nairobi County Assembly also want the governor to publicly declare he is a member of Azimio.

“He was elected on a UDA ticket but he has never consulted anyone from the party before making appointments. We are giving him one month to come out and declare that he belongs in the Azimio coalition so that we can know the next course of action,” Kiragu was quoted by Nation

“We have given him just one month so that he can realign his appointments. Let him reach out to the party leadership and apologise over what he has done and rectify. The party mobilised voters in Nairobi who believed in him because he used the UDA flag,” UDA Minority Chief Whip Mark Ronaldo Mugambi said.

According to reports from City Hall, Kenya Kwanza leaders allied to DP Rigathi Gachagua are pushing the coalition’s MCAs to draft and table an impeachment motion against the Nairobi Governor in February if he fails to toe the UDA line.

The push for Sakaja’s ouster received a fresh impetus on Tuesday when former Nairobi boss Mike Sonko disclosed he was in the process of collecting signatures from Nairobians who wanted the new governor out of office.

Over the last few days, Kenyans have witnessed a public spat between Governor Sakaja and DP Rigathi Gachagua who says the Nairobi governor is not taking care of Mt Kenya interests in the city, despite them (Kikuyu voters) ‘making’ him Governor.
