Blogger Robert Alai has declared his intention to run for the Nyando MP seat in 2022. Speaking in Nyando on Sunday, Alai criticized the current Nyando MP Jared Okello for not being in touch with the people of Nyando when at a time they are facing challenges in sugarcane and rice farming.

Alai’s sentiments seem to support what he told Radio Maisha’s Billy Miya, during an interview in the ‘Celebrity Hotseat’. During the interview, Alai said his decision to run for the Nyando seat was informed by the wishes of the people of Nyando.

If he goes on with his plans to run, Alai will have to face off with the current MP Jared Okello for the ODM ticket, or use a different party to run for the same seat.
