ODM leader Raila Odinga is currently meeting members of the clergy, just a day after youths chanting pro-Ruto slogans attempted to disrupt his rally in Githurai. The meeting, currently at Ufungamano House brings together the national leadership and top members of the country’s clergy.
It is expected, Raila will use today’s meeting with the leadership of the clergy to dismantle DP William Ruto’s lies on the BBI and ask the institution to play its role in restoring sanity in the country’s politics.
On Wednesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta on the other hand met governors from the Mt Kenya region as he prepares to flush out Ruto from the region. The Head of State, who has been under constant attacks from DP Ruto and his allies is expected to use his Mt Kenya political activities to reclaim any grounds which might have been lost to his deputy.
”The President was categorical that this will not be a one-off visit but a long sustained campaign to ensure political sanity and peace. We will also be explaining the benefits of BBI to our people in a sustained campaign,” one of the governors said.
Both Uhuru and Raila have intensified their efforts to drum up support for the BBI across the country as the process enters a very critical phase. On Monday, the IEBC sent the Constitution Ammendment Bill 2020 to the counties for debate.
