Kenyans Call for Nationwide Public Participation Forums on Key issues Following Gachagua Impeachment Motion

2 mins read

In the wake of the ongoing impeachment motion against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, public sentiment across various regions of Kenya has taken a sharp turn. Many Kenyans have expressed dissatisfaction with the motion during today’s public participation forums across the country, branding it as a diversionary tactic.

Many participants declared that Gachagua and President William Ruto should face impeachment, citing the government’s failure to deliver on key promises made during the Kenya Kwanza campaign.

Citizens expressed their growing frustration with the current administration, accusing it of neglecting urgent national concerns.

Beyond the impeachment motion, Kenyans are now demanding that Parliament organize comprehensive public participation forums to address several pressing issues.

Among the matters highlighted is the controversial sale of the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to the Adani Group, a move that has raised concerns over transparency and national sovereignty.

They also pointed to the new Higher Education Funding Model, the proposed social health insurance fund, and the ongoing edible oil corruption scandal, which many believe are being inadequately addressed by the current administration.

The public has made it clear that these forums are not optional but necessary. They insist that without proper consultation and participation from citizens, the government’s actions on these critical issues will not be legitimate.

Should Parliament fail to facilitate these forums, Kenyans are threatening to take matters into their own hands. They have vowed to occupy Parliament during the impeachment proceedings, marking a new chapter in the citizen-driven push for accountability.

As the impeachment motion against Gachagua looms, it is clear that the political landscape in Kenya is shifting.

What began as a targeted move against the Deputy President has now evolved into a broader critique of the entire administration. The public’s demand for transparency, accountability, and their involvement in key national decisions could set the stage for significant political upheaval in the coming months.
